I would take them if i was trying bc the first eight weeks are the most important to take the vitamins bc thats when the spinal cord is forming. After that my doc told me I could keep taking them or just eat a bowl of total cereal everyday if they made me constipated. You need the folic acid though the first eight weeks to prevent spinal cord abnormalities and since you usually dont find out your pregnant until 4 to 6 weeks, it would probably be a good idea to start taking them. You can purchase them at wal mart or any drug store. I think they are just around 4 dollars at wal mart.

You can use the ones from CVS and everything. Im using a Womans One a Day. Which the doctor said was fine cause it has all the folic acid and everything you need. As for side effects with prenatals, it makes some woman sick, and it leaves a metal taste in some ppl mouths. And yes you can take them before your pregnant so if your planning on getting pregnant within a month or so then start the pills because it takes at least a month for your body to soak up everything and for them to start to work.

Yes you can get them at the drugstore. They range in price, but the generic kind are just as good as the expensive, but usually you have to take two a day instead of one. Just check to make sure that they have iron and folic acid. Yes, actually, any woman hoping to get pregnant should be taking prenatals because you need the folic acid early in the first 4 weeks a lot and most people don't even find out they are pregnant until around that time.

The OTC ones are just as good as the prescribed ones. The OTC ones have all the vitamins that you and baby need. The prescribed ones usually have a bit more vitamins in them. So either way your good. I get the One A Day prenatal vitamins, $13 for a month supply. Missy Oldest son Dylan (4), 20 weeks 5 days with Daniel

They range in cost from as little as about $2 a month to $20 a month. You can buy them over the counter, and my doctor told me the differences were so minimal to go with whatever one I wanted as long as it had 100% of your daily needs for folic acid. You can take them whenever! They actually are recommended over any regular vitamin for women between 16-30 years of age. Only side effect I know of is that it makes some women have an upset stomach after taking them. My doctor said to try taking with food, or right before bed to help with that. Good Luck!

You can buy Prenatal vitamins at almost grocery or drug store and they vary in price from $5-$20. You may experience some constipation. If that occurs I highly recommend requesting a prescription from your OB for prenatal vitamins that contain a stool softener.
Vitamins can be taken at any time.

Yep- I got mine at a pharmacy. A bottle costs anywhere from $7-14. There aren't any side effects except your hair and nails growing really fast and bright yellow pee! Most doctors recommend that you take them while you are planning a baby! They're not just for pregnant women! All they are is intense doses of important vitamins, and your baby needs them! If you are low income, Planned Parenthood will give them to you for free.
