The CIA has been accused of being involved in, or at least involved with, drug trafficking and drug traffickers for many years now. Certainly there has been allegations that the CIA was involved in the "crack cocaine epidemic" of the late 80s.

No. In the late 1980s and on, it was our nation's policy that we could not assist foreign governments fight terrorism in their own country. This meant we couldn't send agents, military, senior police, etc ...only to train their people, not participate in "fugitive chase". One of our issues at the time (1990-1994) was the war on drugs, particularily cocaine, coming from Colombia. the government was suffering from poor economy and executions of government officials. We had a drug problem (still do, but we make it here now...meth) that was costing billions of $$, attributing to high crime and so forth. the Colombian government enlisted the help of a local vigilante group called the Pepes( People Persecuted by Pablo Escobar), that would fight the drug cartels. The Colombian government had recieved money from US to train Los Pepes and help train them, provide equipment, weapons, etc. The CIA also sent a team to assit in the training of marksmanship, patrol tactics and such. Los Pepes helped pursue Pablo and kill him.Later it was discovered that this vigilante group was partly being funded by rival cartels who were trying to grow in the business. Los Pepes were funded, among other parties, by the rival Cali Cartel and the Castaño Brothers. The Cali Cartel controlled 80% of the cocaine exports from Colombia to the United States. Gilberto Rodríguez Orejuela founded the Cali Cartel. This is how the CIA put crack inside American slums. Conservatives turned this story around to be something it wasn't and leaked it to the media for the people to be "informed". Like they always do when the're not happy with something America engages in.

since the cia has no jurisdiction over crack and illegal drugs, that would be the job of DEA.
