My dad was gonna get me a cell phone for emergencies ONLY. I was thinking of getting the Razr because of its thinness and it can easily fit in my pocket. But I also wanted the LG Chocolate because it has an mp3 player combined with it. I've seen many bad reviews of the Chocolate though, mainly of the small touch pad but I have small skinny fingers. Which do you think I should chose?

Get the newest lg vx8600 (the chocolate flip phone) is way better than the razr AND just as thin AND has the mp3 player too! A lot of people complain about the touch sensitive buttons on the original chocolate phone as too sensitive and difficult to navigate, so on the chocolate flip phone, the touch sensitive buttons are only for the music not for using the phone normally which is a lot better. Read the reviews on cnet.com for both phones.

Here's my review for it that I posted on cnet:
This review is not for the techies/music lovers out there. I don't use bluetooth (yet) nor the music capability; I rarely use the camera and video (have a real one, so these functions are only used if my camera is not on me); I do use text/picture messaging, and talking.

I upgraded from the VX6000 which I had no problems with except the chunkiness and lack of video recorder. I initially upgraded to the Razr but I hated it and exchanged it for this. (Anyone looking at the Razr, DON'T get it: battery life is awful, you can barely hear unless you move the phone to a small sweet spot, can't see the screen in the sunlight & no tip calculator). I was looking at the VX8300 but the design of the VX8600 just blew me away and it had all the same functionality I wanted.

Text messaging: the motorola predictive text is a bit better because you can go forwards and backwards when scrolling through words, the LG T9 predicitve style was what I first learned anyway so I was fine with keeping it the same.

MP3: I didn't buy it for the music function so I can't comment.

Bluetooth: haven't tried it out yet, will update once I get a BT headset.

Best feature: 4 way shortcuts! love it!

Flat main buttons: I thought I would hate them when I tried out the phone in the store, but after using the phone for a couple of days, I've had no problems. I do have small fingers though and I'm not one of those folks who can text/dial without looking (you guys probably won't like this).

Side buttons: they are really skinny and a lil hard to press but I'm willing to deal with it because that's what you get with a thin phone; the Razr had the same issue.

Battery life: is awesome! I disabled the EV network and it lasts much longer now. I was warned that batteries in thin phones are never as good as the old chunky phones but this is comparable to my old chunky phone now.

Speakerphone: was good, I'm comparing this with the VX8000 and Motorola Q and they all sound about the same.

As another reviewer mentioned, the plastic bit covering the charging port seems pretty fragile but if it falls off, I'll live. I lost the lil rubber cover of the car charging port for my VX6000 and it worked fine with the car charger, dust/dirt getting into didn't seem to do anything and that hole was 3x as big as this one.

Camera: I don't know why you'd use your camera phone to take action shots (I guess if you saw a celebrity or something) so I don't mind the slow shutter speed. It's only 1 second.

Go for the Razr. The chocolate is really sensitive to water. It can get fried by something as simple as answering your phone with wet hands. We have had many cell phones over the years and never had a problem with a Motorola. My son has replaced his chocolate twice and finally went to a Razr and has not had any issues.

i haven't had any problems with the small touch pad, but i had to get it replaced twice in the first month i got it. however, i havent had a single problem since then, and one of the times was my fault anyways. i really like my chocolate, i was mad because they came out with the white a week after i got it, then now the new colors. get a white or red, i think anyone would get sick of green after a while. and if you get it, dong bother with the music kit. by a micro sd card from best buy, NOT the verizon store, and that will take care of all music needs. one downfall: the headphones cost 100$ b/c they are wireless and its another way to cost us money. some razrs are mp3-compatible anyways. just be careful, razrs can break easily.

my professional opinion is neither ...my choice between the two would be the chocolate but I'd doubt it's a good phone...razors are junk and everybody thinks so ...so if you want anyone to ever be impressed don't get a razr...the chocolate is an odd phone also and my opinion is odd people ...have odd phones....
So my advice is buy neither...
I like Japanese phones like a sanyo///I dislike Korean phones..IE samsung /lg... they build too many phones at once and can't seem to settle on one they are pleased with...it's not more options it's just confusion samsung made 32 new phones last year compared to like 6 nokias or 7 from sanyo...that many phones just makes it incredibly impossible to find any decent accessories for them ...because they made so many phones so quickly they killed the chances of ever finding a faceplate.holster case or anything you might want to add to your phone, because who would carry product just to have it obsolete itself in a few months ... so i say sanyo

despite you do, are not getting the chocolate. i had it for 2 years and in those 2 years I had to get mine fixed diverse circumstances. as quickly as the tricky stress crashed, necessary a sparkling one. 2d, it iced up choose a sparkling battery. 0.33 wasn't able to make calls. broken necessary a sparkling one. i think of whilst i eventually have been given a distinctive telephone replaced into on my third Chocolate, and that one replaced into freezes with the buttons and wasn't conserving a value. The razor is slightly out dated. yet ive secretly consistently needed one. :) i might get the Shine they're truly reeaaaly cool, and that they nevertheless slide up like the Chocolate if that's what attracted you to it. Plus you may locate your self in it! :) stable success!
