I had it and I just gained too much weight. Just cut back on sugars and carbs. Lots of moms get this and it doesnt necessarily hurt you or the baby. In most cases it is gone after you deliver and it means that you have a slightly higher chance to have diabetes later in life. It may cause your baby to grow very large, but if you stick to a diet that your doc can help you with then you should be fine. I didnt even have to check my blood sugar or anything. My baby had to have some sugar water after delivery and other than that there were no side effects on him and he wasnt over weight either. He was 7lbs 5oz. Don't get upset, you would be surprised how many women get this and it only becomes a problem really when your doc doesnt find out.

I had GD with my second pregnancy. My OB sent me to a dietician at the hospital and she helped me alot. I had to prick my finger 4 times a day to do a blood sugar reading. I was lucky and didnt need insulian. I just changed my diet a bit to be healthier and all was fine.
My baby was induced at 37 weeks because he was getting a bit on the big side (he was only 7lbs10oz but because my last baby was 7lbs11oz and I had trouble delivering him they decided to get this one out early)
The baby was tottally fine and he is now a veryvery healthy, happy 3 year old.
Good luck!!

I had it with with my last two pregnancies. With my daughter I was able to control it with diet but it was hard because everything you crave when pregnant is off limits. With my son I had to be put on insulin shots. Everything was fine except when he was born and they did his first sugar test he was extremely low, and they told me it was due to me having to have the insulin shots, it made his blood sugar too low. They just had to continue to observe him and check his sugars. He was fine after a few feedings. Insulin is very dangerous for pregnant women but having uncontrolled high blood sugar is even more dangerous. Try to control it with diet if at all possible and try to get some exercise, I was told a 30 minute walk everyday would help keep my sugars low.

I had Gest Diab when I was pregnant with my son. Don't Worry! You are going to be just fine! There are different types of it that you get when you are expecting. With mine, I was able to keep it under control with a pretty simple diet. Your doc/nurse should give you a meal planner and a chart of what you can and cannot eat. As SOON as you give birth, you are done with it. You will be okay. It's just one of those things that some women have to go through to have a baby. Good Luck!

I've never had kids but one of my colleagues who is currently on maternity leave was diagnosed early in her pregnancy. It happens to a lot of women. My colleague had a healthy baby boy with no complications.
Follow your dr's instructions and it should not affect the baby at all.

my sister had this with both of her kids and they are fine. All she had to do was check her blood sugar and monitor what she ate. Its not a death sentence so try not to be so upset! Oh and she is also an OBGYN. Proof that it can happen to doctors also!
