At least 39 people in central New Jersey and on Long Island were infected, two of them critically, with E. coli bacteria in an outbreak of food poisoning last month that has been traced to the Taco Bell restaurant chain, health officials in New York and New Jersey said yesterday.
It was the nation's most serious outbreak of E. coli toxins since mid-September, when the same strain of the bacteria, linked to packages of contaminated spinach grown in California, killed three people and infected more than 200 in 26 states.

They did have an E-coli outbreak, in one store in New Jersey, but I have called and asked about it, and they said that they are almost 100% positive that it was only that one area. They also said they are inspecting what caused it and would inform the customers if it was not safe to eat at any of the other Taco Bells in the nation. I don't think that it is anything to be worried about. In fact I will probably eat supper there tonight.

They had some type of bacteria in the green onions. Taco Bell has pulled all of them from all stores and checking the source of contamination, I think it was E-Coli

I read that, too, but I'm not sure to what extent, just that around 20 people got sick. It happens in the food business since there is no way to perfectly guarentee all food being safe and also the people that handle the food. These jobs are among the lowest paying....not that eating fast food is the most healthy choice one could choose, though.

Are you really surprised? They use powdered meat in their taco filling, for crying outload! The truth is that tacobell is gross! They use all kinds of chemicals in their food, they use genetically modified corn in their taco shells. The list goes on and on.
