I have a 8x16 shop would like to heat it in winter. It is fully insulated. I would like to use electric heat and only have 120V available. Is baseboard or other heaters? Like to keep it at 50 deg and be able to warm it up quick if want to use it.

Check out "leighvalley.com". They have a radiant heater that will supply the heat you need.

Assuming your 120v plug does not have any other large appliances on the circuit, any electric heater , up to 1500 watts, will work. There is no difference in output between one electric heater of the same wattage and the next. The fan, or lack of one, might affect distribution of the heat, but 1500 watts of electricity through a resistance heater , regardless of brand, will produce the same amount of heat (btu). The question of keeping the shop at 50 deg. will depend on the temperatures outside that cool the shop. If it is colder than a 1500 watt heater can heat, then you may have to consider a higher amperage dedicated circuit.

Here's a website www.cadetco.com/heatloss.php
You just put in the details and it will calculate the amount of watts you need. They also make great heaters too. You might consider the cove heaters. They mount up high out of the way, and heat fast.

I have a little electric wall heater with a fan. Works great but keep flamables and a lot of ,say sawdust out of the shop. It can explode if the comditions are right.
