I can't stand them. I think that we should use the language of the time, not stuff from another time period and a culture that is not ours.

Poetry doesnt equal rhyme and old words.

It makes me curious as to where the word comes from and helps me better understand yesterday's poets. So I guess I do enjoy them somewhat. Though if I were going to write a poem I hardly think I would do it entirely in a language gone by and which no one would either want to read nor understand.

Sometimes, these words fit better than others in the meter of the poetry, but it is absurd for people to use them just because they are "poem words."

Old words are good in old poems.... Old words in new poems are bogus, and if thou writest them, thou shalt be lash-ed without mercy....

I don't like modern poems with them- you're right, it's trying too hard. Old poems with such words are all right though. ^-^

I like them because they let us look into the past. its kinda like there television. but that ok if u dont i understand.
