I know that the name Heidi has mostly German roots. Everywhere I look it says it's German, but could it also be Swedish? Or something else?

You know, I remember Heidi as a German name.
However, This ladies name can be traced to Scandiavian
nations and other nations in Europe.

The most famous Heidi is of course Swiss. It is an very uncommon in Sweden.

"Heidi" is short for "Adelheid" (the real name of the girl in the novel), which is a Germanic name.

Swedes (and others) may have borrowed it, but it's primarily German in origin.

it's swiss as in switzerland..that's dutch...which has a strong tie to german
