When my kid was in middle school, one of the rules in the Student Handbook stated that, "if a student is attacked by another, then he/she is required to try and flee to get help, rather than stand & defend". If the victim fought back, he/she would be treated equally as the attacker because he/she resorted to physical violence too.
Doesn't that just smack of something right out of California with all their socialistic school laws & rules?
I taught my kid to bag that rule, fight back & defend; then we'd deal with anything else in court.
I speak also of California being the home of banning dodge-ball, tag, and other such nonsense.

I agree with you. It's like that in Illinois, too. Let's all teach our kids to be weak and not stand up for what's right, ok guys?

You are 100% correct, it is BULL SHITT come on. But the only reason is because if all the kids in the world got pissed off because someone called them a name and start a fight then we would be really fu****, imagine your kid coming home with a black eye just because the pissed someone off. There will be many problems. Look at this way, the administrator doesn't have to do anything so if the kid deserved the shitt beat out of he/or she and it was for a real reason the administrator doesn't have to, all the administrator has to do is avoid it and let the parent that beat the hell out of whoever, was for a real reason. And get by with it. HINT: it isn't smart to to hit high, only low, it is more of a surprise and lot more of damage, try to hit the nerves, surf the net to show your kid(s) where they are.

i agree with you entirely. sometimes it seems that the school systems try to undo what you have been teaching your kids. i have always believed that if someone hits you, you hit them back. i get the phrase that two wrong do not make a right. but does a right and a wrong make a right? no. i feel that if someone walks up and smacks me then i will most definitely smack back. i do not have kids, but i know what my views are and i know what i was taught. respect for others above all else, but do not let anyone beat up on you. i bet that if there was ever a situation and you really did have to go to court there would be alot of people behind you defending you and your kid.

How are you to flee and get help when the perpetrator has your shirt or hair in one hand and using the other to bash your face in?! Hello? My ordinary pencil became a dagger one day... put that thing about 3 inches into that @$$hole's thigh. Then I ran for help. My parent's weren't sued, the black guy was expelled, and I remained in school. I still don't know what made that guy snap.

i'm out of highschool now, yet my severe college had some somewhat stupid regulations, and extremely stupid techniques of imposing them. the only maximum have been annoyed with replaced into which you weren't allowed to have extra effective than 2 piercings, have tattoos, or dye your hair any colours that weren't seen organic. Their reasoning replaced into that those issues could be distracting for different pupils. females have been additionally no longer allowed to placed on spaghetti straps, and could no longer placed on rings to dances. We had a skirt rule that your skirt might desire to attain a minimum of the suggestion of your palms whilst status in the present day, which isn't uncommon or very stupid, yet what replaced into stupid replaced into that each and all the "preppy" females wore skirts lots shorter each and all the time and in no way have been given in hardship. besides the shown fact that, if a woman replaced into no longer in with the "prep" crowd, she might get in hardship in the present day. This replaced into no longer at a private or uniform college. It replaced into an elementary public college without uniforms.

I agree with you as well. This is just further proof we are raising a whole generation of thin-skinned crybabies afraid of their own shadows. It's no wonder the rest of the world thinks we're weak; turns out, we probably are. Darwin is spinning in his grave. Survival of the fittest no longer applies. It's turning into survival of who can run away and tattle. Or file a lawsuit. Pathetic.

it's all over the place. "zero tolerance" means bullies and victims both get punished.
middle schools can be the worst place for violence, too.
