Definitely Jimmy Carter. He did a lot of good to keep the lid on the Middle East when he was president, something good old George W. hasn't been able to do. Bush had almost 3,000 Americans killed during his watch on 9/11 and know has almost 3,000 brave young Americans killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Who knows how much higher that number will go because of Bushs' policies. Plus, he really hasn't made the USA any safer. It's only a matter of time before we'll be hit again.
The conservatives who answered above hitting on Carter and then talking about how great Reagon was better go back to 1983 and check out Lebanon where over 300 Marines were killed and then Reagan had the Americans cut and run, showing the terrorist that Republican presidents had no guts therefore setting the stage for 9/11. If Reagan had stood up to them then, the terrorist might never had attacked Americans again. Republican, right-wing conservatives=cut and run chickens, just what Bush is eventually going to do in Iraq. His daddys boys are setting up the cover for him now.

It's like comparing apples and oranges, but truthfully neither were good presidents. Jimmy Carter was not in power long enough to affect any meaningful change. George W. Bush has been in power too long....And has made America hated worldwide.
It boils down to who is the better man? Who created a legacy that will live far longer than the man himself? That would be Jimmy Carter, hands down. His legacy is bringing about peaceful change with Habitat for Humanity. His legacy if diplomacy....
Bush's legacy remanins to be seen, but it will in no way compare to that of Jimmy Carter.

Bush is by far the better American of the two.
Which one sold out allies in the middle east, murdered both the Shah and Anwar, embraced Islamic fascists, and left Americans prisoners to the guy that is the current president on Iran for over a year. He gave away the Panama Canal to the enemy Chinese.
He presided over the worst American economy since the Great Depression...double digit interest rates and unemployment...
A Total Failure as American President!
Depleted and destroyed Americana's Military...
Devastate Americas economy, at the time...
Impunded and degraded America's image to the world...
Much like Clinton, sold out his own counrty to enemy nations and ideologies!
Unlike Slick Willie, Jimmeny was just stupid! Not a Traitor!

Jimmy was a "president." He wasn't a President.
History is written by the victors and if the media is writing it, then Jimmy will come out smelling like a rose. But given the fact the truth can be found on the Internet, I'm sure President Bush will be compared to the other great men who have held the office such as Reagan, Lincoln and Washington - not like Clinton and Carter.

They the two did no longer comprehend economics or what makes an financial gadget develop. George W Bush and Greenspan inspired their way from a 2000s recession to a real belongings bubble and ensuing financial disaster. For that i could say W Bush is worse.

Neither understands the nature of the situation they are in. Equally bad as president.
Carter turned out to be one of our best ex-presidents. I very much doubt Bush will be able to reach Carter's level of success.
I give the nod to Carter as the better man.
