This is something you can do yourself quite easily and in only a few minutes. What you need is a carpet kicker. This is what carpet installers use when they laid the carpet originally. One end of it goes on the carpet and it has a bunch of teeth to grip the carpet. The other end of it is a concave rubber pad. You get on your hands and knees and kick it with your knee/lower thigh.

You can rent these at The Home Depot.

It all depends on what type of carpet it is and the condition of it.
If you have fitted a carpet before you should get a professional to do it.Carpet fitting isn`t as easy as it seems.
Laying carpets especially a hession backed carpet is no easy task.
First thing you have make sure you have enough carpet to fit with a couple inches spare all round to ensure a good fit when it`s trimmed to catch the gripper.
Do you have a stretcher( a carpet Kicker) to stretch the carpet onto the Gripper. What type of floor you have depends on how you fasten the gripper down.Do you have underlay.there is also the problem of "do you know which way to run the carpet pile".
have you got gripper plates for your doorways.
Foam back carpets are easyjust use paper as an underlay basically to stop it sticking to the floor and cut to fit.
will the carpet fit under your doors if not you will have to trim the doors

Hammer down your timber strips all around the room with thr nail grips facing the wall. Then lay down your carpet and push all the creases out to the sides
If there are alot of creases you could let it settle for a day before securing it to the laths. You could also use the hoover to take out small creases by hoovering out towards ehe walls.
When you are satisfied that it looks ok press it onto the grippers all around the walls. You can use a metal gripper at the doorway if needed.
Hop this will help. If I lived near you I would do it for you.

Most wall to wall carpets are attached to tack strips placed on the floor by the walls. The carpet is stretched then tucked under the baseboard where it is caught by the tack strips. You can do it yourself but there is a technique and tool required to do this. You will need to rent a knee kicker or power stretcher. And go to this site.

Buy the strips with the carpet grippers tacked through and nail those around the edges then hey presto lay the carpet straight down. Childs play

Refitted? It is already installed in the room but not secured?

Usually you nail the strips around the edge, lay the carpet out & stretch it (so it doesn't bunch up as it wears & relaxes) and secure it over the tack strips.

Yes you can do it. If it's a carpet already in place and has developed wrinkles, you can pull it loose from the edge. Then you can rent a carpet kicker or I usualy just jump and skid my feet toward the wall. You'll have to retuck and trim the excess agianst the wall. Not really that hard to do.
