I think eyeshadow looks best when it complements your natural coloring...eyecolor, hair and skintone.

I do try to match with my clothing to a certain extent. If I am wearing green or some types of tan I will wear a light green eyeshadow. The same goes with blue. But for something like red, black, purple no I do not wear those colors eyeshadow. I would wear a more neutral color.

I think the best way is to find looks and colors that work for you and then go with a color scheme that is COMPLIMENTARY to what you are wearing (doesn't have to be the same color, but the colors shouldn't clash - like blue shadow with brown clothing... ewww...). The best way to find out what looks good on you is to go to a big department store to cosmetics and do a make-up trial. Most brands (MAC, Chanel, Lancome, etc.) do that and it doesn't cost you a thing. They can also suggest a color scheme for a particular outfit. AND you don't have to buy the pricey eye shadow if you don't want to. Once you know which look works for you, you can find similar colors at some drugstore. I personally prefer to buy good eye shadows myself (I mostly use MAC). They last forever and always look good.
Good luck!

Go with your skin tone. Experiment with colors I mean I never thought that grey eyeshadow would look good on me but try taking an eyeliner stick that is not black and make a line on the bottom of your lid then use your fingers to smooth out the color works everytime

Well, my freind does that and it looks pretty cute, but usually I try to use colors that will bring out my eyes. I have bright green eyes so I usually use pink eyeshadow. But somedays when I am feeling a bit more creative, I try a new color. Be creative!

I think it is ok as long as you know what you are dooing. For example if you are wearing any shade of purple shirt you would want to go with a really light verion of a purple. You never want to wear the same exact shade, or it will look like you are stuck in the 1980s.

Yes, if you are over 50. Somehow, that's the way it seems anyways. Wear something that is flattering to you and your skin tone. Makeup should transcend clothing and look great with every outfit because it's the same face.

Well, you kinda have to use your feminen judgement, sometimes you can, sometimes, it just shouldnt be done. But usually, try a lighter or darker shade of eyeshadow to the clothes you are wearing. Or stick with a natural shine

only if you want to! the rules of make-up have changed a lot over the years, and you don't necessarily have to match your make-up to your clothing anymore. it's more about what looks good on you. personally, I prefer to try and match my eyeshadow with what I'm wearing, but it's totally up to you. just have fun with it!
Good Luck

Nope, not necessarily. You should choose your eyeshadow based on what looks good with your eyecolor and skintone, not the color of your clothing.
