if 500gm of dextrose are dissolved in 600ml of water, with the final vol. being 1000ml, what is the percentage strength of the dextrose in the sol.?

The dextrose was dissolved in 600mL water in the first place to get it into solution so that the solution could be diluted up to final strength with more water. So the 600mL doesn't come into this. Also the word strength is confusing. It should be concentration.

500gD/1000mLsoln = 0.5 x 100% = 50% (strength, LOL)

I don't know what is the difficulty.Half of the solution is dextrose as the lone answer has succictly worked out.
