Tumble-drying helps bring out the fluffiness and tumble-drying sheets will add a nice fragrance. Often towels go hard and rough because not all the detergent get rinsed out of them so yes you should always give them an extra rinse, oh and don't use liquid softner on them as it makes them start to smell dirty very quickly.

Ps forgot to say, a cupfull of white vinegar in the final rinse will also help with the softness as it helps remove soap.

They say you should always soak new towels in cold water when you buy them. Leave them over night if you can. This will help keep there fluffyness.

Do you tumble dry?
If you hang them on a line, they end up like "Badger's ar$e" toilet paper.
