The Xbox 360 as of right now, while just breaking the 8 million consoles sold marker, it has by far the best game play available. The playstation 3 just being released did not do as well as expected, with a horrible line up of games and a glitchy operating system causing it to randomly freeze so i would have to say gears of war on xbox 360

I'd go with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64). It's my personal favorite, it has the highest average/combined review score for games on various sites such as metacritic.com, it tops various "Best X Games" lists (like IGN's recent Top 200 based on user votes), etcetera. The music is amazing, the gameplay is simple but complex enough to be fun, the story is basic but deep, and it's long enough to last a while. The graphics aren't stellar, given that it's an N64 game, but they're more than good enough.
