I'm in the same boat. My doc only wants me to gain a pound a month now so i don't gain over 25 pounds. At first i thought this is impossible because i gained about 40 with my first and i have a thing for "home cooking". So for the past three weeks i've been eating normally like if i weren't even pregnant and i drink tons of water. I try to get out and walk around the block as much as i can every week. So for the past three almost four weeks now i haven't gained any weight which is good since i've already put on 16 and still have about four months to go. The best thing to do is kind of forget that your pregnant. I know it's sounds crazy but when you think aww i'm pregnant so it's ok to gain weight, that's when you gain too much! Eat healthy, exercise whenever you can and drink lots of water. Oww and watch those pounds, whenever we stop using the scale is when we start gaining the weight and fast.
I hope i've helped some.

Eat healthy, and do not go overboard with sweets. Do not use pregnancy as an excuse to overeat, that's how so many women are gaining insane amounts of weight. Only about 15 pounds is actual baby, the rest is just fat. I gained exactly 23 pounds during both of my pregnancys and lost all the weight within 6 weeks. If you eat the exact same portions as you are now, you will only gain what you need to.

I'm in the same boat and I've done pretty well so far I think. Cutting out soda and high sugar juices is a big thing because that is a lot of calories. Try your best to cook and eat at home, eating out always really packs it on for me. Don't starve yourself, you actually need to eat a good amount to stay healthy, but don't deny yourself too much either. I've found the best thing to be to make healthy substitutions, like whole grain pasta instead of enriched, or low fat milk and cheese, and sherbet instead of ice cream. If you really want something, eat a just a little and then put it away, chances are your craving will go away. Also, strangely enough, I've kind of been killing my sweet tooth by baking desserts and giving them away. I find that just smelling them and going through the whole process of creating them kinda kills my cravings. Good luck and congrats :)
Oh! and weigh yourself at least once a week if not more. If you see that you are gaining a lot one week or weekend, then the next week try to eat much healthier and chances are that you will lose those extra pounds from last week.

Find another OB.
Find one that is willing to give you proper diet advice. Did the GUY (yeah....I'm gonna go out on a limb and say MALE) offer some recommended eating plans high in calcium, fruits and protein? Did he recommend an easy workout plan for you to maybe start walking for 20-30 minutes a day?
Does he just expect you to join Weight Watchers and hope for the best? Or maybe one of the Slim Fast diets? Maybe a pro-anorexic diet of saltine with spray butter and a diet coke?
I'm sorry, but a doctor is the one that should be giving you this advice, not a group of strangers.
Find a GOOD OB/GYN that is willing to be more specific before sending you out confused with vague advice after your appointment.
Also, have you bought the book "What to Expect When You're Expecting". I'm sure they've made updates since your last pregnancy and I read it and treated it's advice like the Bible! They also have recommended healthy foods that surely will help you keep your weight down, assuming you eat sweets sparingly.
Congratulations on your baby!!!

I gained approximately that a lot at 26 weeks. i became into 108 pounds at 12 weeks and that i had gained basically approximately 8 pounds at 26 weeks. i finished up gaining 20 pounds the full being pregnant. My surgeon suggested that it became into O.ok, however the very low end of O.ok. My daughter became into born at 38 weeks and he or she became right into a healthful 6 pounds and 11 oz.. have you ever had undesirable morning disease? I had all of it 9 months. i became into on no account placed on any drugs for it because of the fact I continually fairly made the minimum weight benefit. on the tip of my being pregnant my surgeon admitted that she probably could have placed me on some meds for the morning disease. interior the tip each thing became into effective nonetheless. So I sounds like which you're O.ok, yet i could be a attentive to your weight attempt to consume healthful snacks and often. you ought to easily be a individual who places on maximum of their weight interior the final 3 months. some persons are like that. they do no longer benefit a lot in any respect till the final 3 months. Take care and robust luck!

Maybe stay active, walking, light excercises, light weight lifting etc.... And try not to give into EVERY craving, eat healthy foods, and the weight will come off easier and it'll be harder to gain weight eating veggies and fruits. Plus you'll have a very healthy child and you'll be healthy too! Congrats and Good Luck!!!!!

It's all good for your doctor to say that but it all depends on the baby. With my first i put on 22kg and i am now pregnant again at 23 weeks and i have only put on 1.2kgs for now. My baby is taking alot for my fat storage if that's what you want to call it. Just try to eat more healthy food but if you want junk food every now and then go for it, you can't lock down those cravings. Just eat in moderation. Good luck and congrats your going to me a mummy again.

Realistically, eat sensibly and drink LOTS of water. DOn't ever put yourself on a diet because your pregnant. As long as you eat healthy choices, there is nothing wrong with weight gain. I assume your doctor is a man, and has no idea how hard it is to keep weight down while pregnant ! ! ! Healthy weight gain during pregnancy is between 25-35 pounds anyway...so don't worry too much about it and tell your doctor to stuff it !

just stay away from the sugar, chips, and soda. don't pay any attention to the answer about weight lifting, a pregnant woman can do that but do sign up for pregnancy exercise classes. check out swimming classes.
