Diffenitely get her something for her kitchen, like a food processor, or a really nice set of cutting knifes, or even a serviing dish that comes with a sleeve to put it in to help keep it warm or cold, if she cooks for functions she would really enjoy and use it.

Hi I am a grandma and would love anything, but something cool for the kitchen sounds good to me, or maybe a gift certificate to a store that specializes in cooking equipment and she can pick something out she needs or likes.....Most grandma's are just happy to be remembered..... :-)

I agree with your Mom. I bet grandma hasn't had a personal gift in years. When I had a grandma, she loved sachet to put in her dresser drawers, comfy houseslippers, scent for the bath if she's still taking tub baths, a gift certificate to the beauty shop, etc.
Perhaps you can find something clever for the kitchen AND a little personal gift for her. She'll appreciate anything you give her.

Seeing as she's a grandma age and loves to cook, she's probably already got all the gadgets she needs or wants.

Perhaps one of those food-of-the-month things might be nice for her. Never used them myself, but some people swear by them.

If she's into cooking, try a nice cookbook and some utensils. It may not be very personal, but chances are she'll really appreciate it. I love cooking and one year my husband got me new pots and pans for Christmas. Some of my friends were horrified because they thought it was impersonal, but I was thrilled.

I agree with the gift for the kitchen a personal gift could backfire on you unless you know her tastes pretty well.. Speaking as a cook, cool kitchen gifts are always welcome.

Does she wear glasses? I always wanted to get my Grandma a nice glasses holder (not sure what it's called, but you wear it around your neck, like a necklace & you attach the glasses to it so they won't get lost)
I think $50 could cover that :)
Good luck & Happy Holidays!

How about a gift certificate to her favorite store. It's easy and you can't really go wrong with that!
