My friend is a little chubby, but worse of all her hair is always greacy and shiny and she has major spilt-ends. She even smells a little.

My mom keeps telling me to keep being an good example but nothing is changing. Help. She's a great friend and one of my best. Help please.

How about this...she is your friend...accept her for who she is and not what she looks like. Your friend may need a little help but I have found many girls that are like this now become swans in the future. Approach her if you wish...but if she resists just let it be. You can't force a friend to be something they aren't...then you will lose the person you made a friend with.

And finally- there is a possibility that nobody ever showed her how to use makeup, hair, etc. She may appreciate the gesture..just be really supportive and nice.

OK, if she is one of your best friends, try this. Invite her over and say lets do makeovers on each other! First off, start by having her shower! Then do her hair and makeup!

Set her down after wards and talk to her. Let her know that you are her best friend, but that she needs to concentrate on being a bit cleaner. Let her know that you are her friend and will be no matter what, but that some other people may not see it that way. Maybe she just needs a little nudge.

Good Luck!

if you are BEST friends - you can tell each other anything. don't do it with pain to her. there are other ways, that hopefully she'll never know what you are trying to do to help her. just let her know that we are getting older and need to make some changes on what we do with ourselves. make it seem like it's for both of you. tell her what you do with your hygiene (and, even, make a joke about it, that it didn't seem so important when we were younger), that you'll shower every night if she will, too. then, tell her why don't we make some changes to ourselves to make us better looking and more trendy - let's go to the beauty salon - get new hairdos and try to maintain them on our own, meaning (ugh) we'll have to wash our hair each night. tell her if you'll do this with me, it will be easier for me to keep up appearances, too - and maybe, we'll even find this to be fun and perfectly a happy hobby to work on ourselves - what do you say, do want to do it?? i hope she says yes and like this you never have to hurt her feelings.

Why not explain to her how you feel about her? She might be upset about it but you raise a good point. I mean, her personal health and hygiene are very important and I think that point should be made to her. She's a good friend, she will understand otherwise, she would not be a good friend, especially if you feel like you have a good case.

Why don't you ask her to let you do a makeover. That would be alot of fun. So that way you are not hurting her feelings by not coming right out and saying you need to take a bath and wash your hair.

invite her to go to the hair salon or a spa with you! When you are there, just keep bringing the convorsation back to hair care, or workouts that you read about in a magazine, she will get into it.

if that dosn't work, then stop trying to change her!! (unless she REALY smells)
