What do you think of the name Romani for a girl? Is it weird, because I have never heard of that as a name. What exactly is Romani... isn't is a language?
I heard the name off the video game, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. One of the little ranch girl's name was Romani, and she was a cute girl with long red hair. It definitely grew on me.
What do you guys think of it?

Go with what's in your heart. If you really like it than go for it!! Romani sounds just fine to me. Use caution in putting a middle name with it. I wouldn't think you would want two unusual names together. What about her surname? Will Romani flow with that name as well? How about Romani Rae? Whatever you decide I'm sure it will be just fine.

I think it's very cute, and she sure not to have another Romani in her classes at school. I like that you heard it from a video game as well, but I named all my kids from fantasy novels. I say that with proper raising children learn to love there unique names. Go for it......Remember you have to use it on a daily basis no one else.

It's okay for a video game character but for a person it's odd. Romani is not a language but Romania is a country.

Go with what makes you happy. As far as a language is concerned - you may be thinking of Romany - the gypsy language. The tendency nowadays is to go with non-traditional names and this one isn't anywhere near as strange as some.

I do not know what it means but Romani does sound lovely. It is unusual but I do not think it sounds weird. Have you thought of middle names to go with it?

Evidently the name comes from gypsies, but really it is how you feel about the name. Can you see yourself years from now calling your child this? I think it is a beautiful name and all in all, people get their children's names from many sources. For instance, my daughter's middle name is Skylene, and I got that off a televison show. In the end the final choice will be yours and what you feel comfortable calling your child.

I am a zoo keeper and one of our gorillas is called romani!! Honestly, the others are called jock and salomie

It sounds beautiful and is fun to say. I suggest looking up the meaning just in case it has a connotation you don't care for. I like it especially if she has dark hair.
