Surpressing violence, providing a power base, it keeps all out war from erupting, which would occur in a power vacum if we just left. They would fight eachother for power. They would fight openly, malitia to malitia in large gun battles. But we provide stabilty by surpressing open battles, if a large army assembled now we could bomb it and unload much whoopas upon them.
that and still training the army and govt. that they are trying to create.
I thought you wanted to know why ideologically but you seem concerned about strategy.

I don't think that we should be over there... It is only killing our men and women. I think that they should bring our people back. Let them kill each other over there, if that's what they want to do. We want "ALL" of our men and woman home. WHO IS WITH ME ON THAT ONE!!!!
