Start by setting a restore point. Start, Run, type in Restore. double click on RSTRUI. Set a restore point, then proceed with the installation.
Download the video drivers from IBM's website, once downloaded select run to re-install the video card. You will probably have to reboot.
Unfortunately, if you are getting the 3D acceleration error, your video card cannot support the game's requirement.
You can read about the Savage 3 chipset in the following wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S3_Savage.
Now the bad news, laptops typically have the chip directly soldered onto the motherboard, so you cant upgrade your video by changing the card like you can with a desktop.
I love the T21 for standard office functions, it's bulletproof and stands up to rough travel. If you want a gaming computer, find something with better graphics on ebay instead.

your card seems to be ok, only thing is that it lacks harware accelration or 3d rendering support, ie you card might not support the game you are trying to play, thus you might need to upgrade your videocard. another option is for you to go to Start, click on Run and type DXDIAG then click on yes, the DirectX for windows will startup, go to Display tab and do the tests there. you will know a lot about your card there and what it can do. as for uninstalling and reinstalling, i think you might just need the drivers cd in some cases for the videocard if you want to reinstall it.
