I have been to Disney World over 20 times and I know all there is to know about the parks. But, I have never stayed in any Disney hotel and I know little about them. I'm looking into the Carribean Beach and the Port Orleans- French Quarters. I'm going with family and there will be no kids so I'm looking for things that young adults and adults would like at the resorts. I've looked them both up on the Disney website and seen pictures but I still can't make up my mind so i'd like the opinion of people who have stayed at least at one of them before. ALSO, please don't reccommend a value or deluxed price hotel... we cannot pay the money for delux but would like something more than value.

Thank you!!

I'm also thinking about the up-keep the of the rooms. (I've heard carribean beach rooms can be old looking is this true?)

I've stayed at both. I would suggest Port Orleans. Its atmosphere is better then the Carribean Beach. I also thought the upkeep up the rooms at Port Orleans were better. I think you will have a better experience staying there.

Coronado Springs is really nice too. I stayed there once. They have a cool water slide at the pool. And yes we were all adults having fun on that water slide one night and everyone thought we were crazy. Had a blast!

I think that Port Orleans is the way to go. My wife and I usually stay at Port Orleans Riverside because it's a very relaxing resort. It's a lot less lively and more tranquil than some of the other resorts on property. I also like that Port Orleans is close to the Magic Kingdom and Downtown Disney. There's a shuttle boat that goes to Downtown Disney that is worth taking because it's a fun trip. Plus I'm sure the young adults in your party will want to spend a lot of time there. The food court at Port Orleans is pretty good and convenient. The restaurant at Port Orleans, Boatwright's, is one of my favorite places to eat on property.

I've never been to Carribean Beach and I'm sure it's probably a nice resort, but Port Orleans is by far my favorite resort I've stayed at because of the atmosphere, convenience and amenities that it offers.

I'd recommend staying at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter rather than Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. The Port Orleans Resorts have two types of transportation available. The rooms, in my opinion, though I think they look older, too, I like the way they look better. Also, you get access to the pool over at Port Orleans - Riverside. It's really nice being near the river, and at night you can take a relaxing carriage ride. I usually stay at Disney's Polynesian Resort, but the first time I went to Walt Disney World (1997) I stayed at the Dixie Landings Resort which is now known as Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. The Resort itself didn't change much. Like you, I know everything about the parks, but also know everything about each of the Resorts.

Here are some negative points to staying at each of these Resorts...

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort:

* Only bus transport to parks.
* Buses stop at each 'island' on way to parks, lengthening journey time.
* Large, sprawling resort, can be a long walk to Old Port Royale if you're in one of the farthest buildings.
* Some people complain of rooms being too old.
* No onsite childcare.
* Busy check-in desk, with often lengthy waits.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter:

* Shares bus transportation with Port Orleans Riverside. Buses can be full at peak times, causing longer wait and transport times.
* Full-service restaurant is next door at Port Orleans Riverside.

I'd recommend Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter, or even Riverside. I've heard quite a few negative things about Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, and it just doesn't look as appealing to me.

Anyway, hope I could help! Have a great vacation!

* I would definitely recommend Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, too. The on-site convention center means that there are a lot of conventioners and business people staying there, and you'll probably find it to be less crowded with families and younger children. It's a gorgeous Resort with an awesome pool. The Maya Grill is a nice restaurant and the transportation service at this Resort is reported to be quite good. Also, Disney's Coronado Springs is the only Moderate Resort that has an on-site health club and salon.

this is a personal question. I would say that port orleans french quarter is the best. It is the smallest of the moderate resorts and you can get around it without a bus. The others have like 8 bus stops to get around to the restaurants and such. this one also has access to 6 pools, with Riverside. There is a boat ride to Downtown disney that is awesome and their food is fantastic here. sassagoula floatworks has amazing frozen treats and one of our best meals was here. I got a chicken quesadilla and my husband had ribs and rottisserie chicken. We were very happy with the meal and the dessert for us was a fantastic shake! the dragon slide is fun as well. though, if you are going in aug.-sept. you can stay at Saratoga springs for just a bit more and that would be worth upgrading to for an extra $30 a night.

I can only speak to Carribean Beach. We stayed there in October and I don't have anything bad to say about the place. It was great. There was one main pool, and then each village had it's own smaller pool. The walk over to the Food Court was fun because of the scenery and the "shortcut" across the island in the middle. It was a great time, and we'd stay there again.

I have a friend who worked there. (IMing her now) She says that Port Oleans is the way to go. She also recommends building 4 or 3. She said that will put you close to the food court. I am guessing that is a bonus. She said she loved the French Quarter the most about it.
