Yes, leather can be dyed.......but red to black is a maybe.
I took a leather jacket that used to be tan, and had it successfully dyed brown. I also had the liner replaced at the same time. It took considerable time to find a reputable company with experience. Many dry cleaners offered to send it out for me. I drove many miles to a leather cleaning company in Burbank CA that did the job for me, and the jacket still looks good. They warned me that once the leather was dyed, it would be difficult for the "skin" to accept a uniform color. In other-words, your choice may not come out black everywhere.
Choose wisely, and lower your expectations - good luck :)

this can matter upon the end on the leather. If it absorbent then you truly will be able to apply dyes yet by way of the undeniable fact that is white i ought to imagine it has some type of pigment coating on it in which case you should favor to apply black pigment to regulate the colour. this can properly be complicated from white to black yet there are literally some very good recolouring structures that are used with techniques from experts interior the market to attempt this. do not be tempted with techniques from DIY kits as they are going to go away it searching plasticky and terrible. confer with a specialist employer who've expereince with this kind of element.

yes, you can go to the cleaners in your area and find out. but i think it is expensive and it is best to just buy a new black leather jacket

You might also ask at a shoe repair shop--they're used to working with leather.
