Depends what you are looking for
New York: Cool, chic, urban, [the crowd is often young proffesianal and have good jobs]
LA: Trendy, sorta plastic [some Celebs here and there, a lot of wanna-be actors/models in the clubs]
I'd say New York because I'm more urban that way..

NEW YORK by far. In NY everything is compact and you can take public transport everywhere, so it's much easier to club hop. L.A. is a huge sprawiling metroplex, with urban hubs here and there, making it a lot harder to find a large group of people in one place. Besides, Time square is the biggest party hot spot in the WORLD for new years eve, second only to las vegas.

I guess it's a close call, but LA is a bigger party town because of it's proximity to Mexico/drugs and it's nice weather puts people in a party mood.

It really depends on what you prefer. Personally, I like NY because I live here. I wouldn't be surprised if someone prefers LA because they live there. Try both and see what happens.
