no offense, but stollers, groceries, toys can go in the trunk of a car.
my mom had three kids, if she can make it with a car, so can most people. better yet drive a van. i can understand a jeep cherokee, but a GMC?

No...It should be a minivan. If you notice the people with the SUV's are the soccer moms that force their kids into things. The minivan mom is the caring loving type. lol

depends how many kids are in the family. I hate the huge SUVs in general. They are gas guzzlers, horrible to park next to and bullies on the roadways. I think most families with the average 2.4 kids can well manage with a car, small SUV or small minivan. BUT larger families could use the extra seating and space for the kids bikes, gear, bookbags, grocery bags, etc that Mom has to cart around. I think the rising gas prices gave those huge SUV owners some regrets though, don't you?

why does anyone need an excuse to have a certain type of car? If you want a car, then you should be able to buy it if you can afford it and it is legal to drive it! If someone owns a car that bothers you, then do three things:
1. Don't hang out with that person, or don't ride in their car!
2. Don't look at it if it bothers you!
3. Don't buy one yourself!
I personally don't drive a large SUV because it is not good for the environment and I don't need that much car or space. But I am not going to judge someone that wants that car, no matter what their objectives were.

I don't have kids but I want a Hummer H2! I just like big toys! As for the kid thing, as far as safety goes, if you're involved in a vehicle accident, you have a better chance of not being as injured in an SUV as you would a car. You have alot more metal around you to take the brunt of the impact.

I dont have an SUV because I have strollers. I have it for safety. I have been in 2 major car accidents in my life. One before I had kids where I was hit head on going through a green light and someone thought he could make a left in front of me and hit me head on. In that accident I ended up with a crushed knee, plates and screws and months in an inpatient rehab. After that I swore I would never own another tiny car again and I haven't. I have had 3 kids since then and yes it is nice to have more room but I was in another accident with my SUV where someone ran a red light and hit me on the driver side where my daughter was right behind me. My SUV flipped on its side spun round and came back up and she and I walked away with nothing but shaken nerves! I thank God for my big SUV and side airbags! I do not want to get run over I want to be the one who runs over others who want to drive like morons and hurt me! I wont be hurt again.

WHY would someone need an excuse to own a large SUV? Does anyone care? People might just like a very large vehicle.
I laugh when I see guys in major, large trucks with tires that belong on bulldozer. They have those things that make the truck sound like a tank. I have always said they buy those because they have a problem with their manhood.
But someone might use a large SUV for travel and long trips. You don't need kids to fill it up................................

I drive an Explorer. I have three kids, one of them is severely disabled and she requires a machine to feed her plus a wheelchair. When we all go out as a family, we need the extra size/space of my SUV to carry all her stuff and the rest of us...

not an excuse but a necessity, a sedan would be too uncomfortable but they shouldn't make the suv's gigantic now that's out of control and dangerous
