we have thought of Jaxson, but the x makes the s sound.so dropping the s we didn't want it sounding "french" (jax-on) so we decided with the en.

Being that Jackson is my middle name, I find the spelling quite interesting. The only problem will be with different people may pronounce it jax-in, leaving off the 's' sound. But since the sound of x is reall 'exs,' I think it could work. I like it. It definitely stands out and would give your child an interesting name.

Remember that your child will be stuck with this name either for the rest of his life or until his eighteenth birthday. People will judge him by his name, especially when he's older and applying for jobs. Names do make a difference. Let's assume he's applying for a position at a law firm or an engineering firm. When they see his resume and see that his name is spelled 'Jaxen', they'll immediately assume that he was born to parents who were illiterate and unable to spell his name. If the next resume is for someone named 'Jackson', well, the guy with the more traditional name may have an edge. Studies have shown that employers are less likely to hire people with creative names because they frankly get classified immediately as being from lower class families and therefore inferior to those with more traditional names.

Don't handicap your child. Give him a normal name. If you absolutely must torture him with a creative name, make it his middle name, or give him a normal middle name so that he has options later in life.

It wouldn't look very professional on a resume. I would stick to the traditional spelling to save a lifetime of frustration. I would actually pronounce it "JAYks-in" on sight. I wouldn't have first thought Jackson. Also the pronunciation of Jackson is "Jack- son". With the x it would go more "Jacks-in" and not sound right. You can nickname Jax to Jackson just as easy.

Jaxen looks like it would be pronouced "Jake-son" Like Jaden. Jaxen.

I never liked it when people spelled Jackson like Jaxson or Jaxon. I think it's a very poor spelling of the name.

Also, "Jax" would not be pronounced like Jack. It would be pronounce like ax, but with a J in front of it. Like Jacks.

If you want tocall the baby Jax why not just give him the name he's going to be called! Simple idea, really. Jax is a very strong manly name on its own!

It's obvious but I don't care for it. As someone w/an unusual name, I can say from 1st hand experience you are subjecting your child to a lifetime of correcting spelling & pronounciations (at best... ridicule at worst). Nothing gets old faster than having to spell (and respell and respell) your name every single time you call a customer service line.

Also, there's something about the way it looks that seems...feminine to me. Maybe because it's similar in shape to Raven? I don't know but I really don't care for it all around, sorry!

I agree with College_math_guy about people possibly leaving off the -s- sound but over all I like the spelling.
