I am 6 weeks pregnant and will be 8 at Christmas. We are spending it with my in-laws. I am so excited and really want to tell them but on other hand we do still think it's a bit early. But we will also have some trouble explaining why I won't take a single glass of wine over xmas and New Year. They might get suspicious and ask us. Any Suggestions??

I think you should definetly tell them, it will be such a fantastic time for the news.

When people say you should wait until 12 weeks thats purely so that the risk of miscarraige reduces, you have to ask yourself, God forbid if something did happen would you not let them know anyway? If the answer is yes then why not go ahead and tell them. The only reason not to was if you wouldn't let them know that you had lost the baby.

I think its different from family to work colleagues etc.

Congratulations with your baby, and enjoy!

Christmas would be a great time to share the news w/ your family & loved ones. I've read that you should wait until the 12th week to tell too, but I've never been able to wait that long. Either I'm too excited (only w/ my 1st one) or I start to show a lot earlier than that.
If you still want to wait, you could just not say anything, but like you said people might get suspicious. If they do ask, I would tell the truth. It would be silly to say no & then tell them in a few weeks that you are (I actually had a friend do that to me once).

You should go with you're in-laws, but don't arrive a week before christmas. Maybe the day before Christmas Eve, then they won't really have the time to be suspitious. As for wine, just set it aside and make small talk. If they ask you about it, tell them you don't like the brand or something, but make sure not to hurt their feelings. Then on christmas morning surprise them!

I think 8 weeks is a good enough time. You want them to be with you in this anyway, so there's no harm in letting them know now, even if you are not sure all about the details yet. It might be nice to write it down and then wrap it in a little box. Like "Merry Christmas, I'm Pregnant!" lol :D Congrats!

8 weeks is very very nearly 2 months it relatively is very very nearly via the 1st trimester. i do no longer comprehend why that's in basic terms too early. How approximately you supply the in-regulations a empty photograph physique with the topic #a million Grand baby and a word "to be crammed in July 2007". As for the eating how approximately whilst they provide you a tumbler you in basic terms ask them for a tumbler of water when you consider which you're truly thirsty. no person needs to determine somebody else hammer down a tumbler of spouse.

I would tell them either before or after the party day. That way, Christmas itself won't be ruined if there's an uncomfortable reaction. Personally, I'd tell a couple days before I got there, but be prepared to have it announced by your in-laws.

Yes I think you should, I'm nearly seven months pregnant, and we told close family and friends at around 8 weeks. It's the best xmas present you could give your family!! Good luck! Andie

I've had the same issue. I'm 9 weeks and turning down drinks has been hard and ppl do ask questions.

Depending on the person depends on my answer. It is so early but go with your gut. If you want to tell than tell them.

I think that would be the greatest xmas present to them ! But if you really want to wait longer to tell them, just say that you're not drinking because you plan on trying to get pregnant soon ???
Personally I would just tell them ! WOOHOO Congrats !
