On reading the article I can see one way it may have legitimately happened - If the father has a drink problem and was trying to hide it by putting vodka into water bottles so people wouldn't know what he was drinking.
AND HAVE HALF OF YOU ACTUALLY READ THE ARTICLE
HOW ABOUT SOME STICK FOR THE FATHER, INSTEAD OF ALL JUMPING ON THE "BAD MOTHER" BANDWAGON
SUNNYFORCE is a perfect example - asking what the Vodka was mistaken for when all the information is in the article
ICE_MAIDEN is another - Nowhere does it suggest the mother was drinking Vodka, in fact the article suggests that the father was the drinker, yet automatically assumes the mother was drinking
EDIT
ICE_MAIDEN - Being outnumbered by ignorance is something I can cope with as I know I'm in the right. You have all jumped on the "BAD MOTHER" bandwagon WITHOUT EVEN READING THE ARTICLE which indicates that the majority of the fault probably lies with the father.
NOWHERE in the article does it state that she was drinking Vodka, that's an ignorant assumption you have made because you were too idle to read the article

OMG!!!!!!!!! That is awful I can't even believe that. So what if the baby wouldn't have been ok? Then what? Would they let her go? That is crazy. I think that the state needs to get involved and look into this matter a little more. I cannot believe that. I am just shocked. I have three children and I haven't ever made a "mistake like that before" neither has anyone else I know. I am totally discussed.

I can see how the mistake could be made.
A lot of nursing mothers get in the habit of bringing water bottles along to mix formula in-case there's no water where they're going. It's not uncommon to mix formula at home using the same thing (especially for the anal parents who use filtered water). Vodka looks identical to water and doesn't have a very strong smell so I find it believable that it could happen.
Of course that doesn't mean it *WASN'T* abuse, but unless you can prove it was (or it's happened to them before in the past), you have to give them the benefit of the doubt.
One thing that leaves a question in my mind is didn't the baby notice? I would think that if the mother wasn't drunk herself, she would have noticed that the baby was disliking it's formula more than normal.

Well not everyone is perfect and people do make mistakes and she said that her boyfriend put the vodka in empty water jug and she assumed that it was water for the formula... I mean as bad as it sounds I think it was a mistake but at the same time how could you not smell the strong odor of vodka

I saw her and her boyfriend on CNN. I know they placed the baby in a foster home. The parents live in their car. They don't work. Why would they bring a baby into the world?
I hope they don't get the child back. But they will. Then abuse begins and in the future you will hear on CNN that the child fell out of a four story window with no screen in some project. The child will be dead, but by then the couple (if still together) will have learned the system and had at least four more children.
And so it goes...................................

She did get away with it because it WAS a mistake (vodka is a clear liquid and if it's in a transparent container or bottle then it can be easily mistaken for water).

She totally got away with it.Thats the most bogus thing i ever heard. How can you passably give a child vodka by accident? She just made a bad excuse just to get out of charges. The dam baby was 2 months. Even if you did do it by mistake(which i doubt its possable), that was a very young baby!

It does seem a tad suspicious, but the element that doesn't resolve in the malevolent mother theory is that they took the baby to the emergency room. Then too, maybe they were just being cruel. No matter what, it doesn't all wash out clean.

that was very irresponsible of her and if it was by mistake then what did she think the vodka was? water? 2 month old babies don't drink water! she should be on probation, take a parenting class and a social worker should make daily visits.

No I don't see how you can do something like that by accident. Plus why was she drinking vodka when she was in charge of a baby? How can you be responsible for a child's care when you're drinking?
YO WEATHERMAN - You're outnumbered. Don't just blame me and Sunny EVERYONE else is of the same opinion
