ROFL.... I bet the snail will win!!!!

STILL ROFL.... now I am going with the CRAYFISH.... I had Crayfish before they help keep the tank clean when fish die but if you have fish that stay on the bottom they will kill them....

I have good and bad news. Your crabs and crayfish was a good choice for cleaniness of the bottom of the tank. The snail was also a good choice for the glass. Now, the bad news and I'll sorry to tell you. You've combined a group of fish that don't mix, especially if they're all in that same 10 gallon tank. I'll start with your siamese fighting fish. You will only have success if all of them are female or 1 male and 3 females. Otherwise they'll fight until they kill each other. Male siamese are very colorful with long rayed fins and females are dull with short fins. The goldfish would've been alright until you added the cichlid family (oscars-and your other 4). Oh I forgot, crayfish are also a threat to the goldfish, because if they get their claws on them, they just became food unless the goldfish is greatly bigger than the crayfish. Cichlids are a whole another story. Your Oscars alone will quickly outgrow anything in that tank in a very short time. They gain at least an 1" per month and they get an average size of 12". You didn't reference your other 4 cichlids, so I can't tell you anything about them, only that they will get along with your oscars for the meantime, or at least until the oscars outgrow them and start domainating who's boss. I would highly recommend to buy another tank that's within your buget for the cichlids for now and seperate the siamese fighting fish into small conatiners of their own. You can go to a nearby Walmart or something like it and get siamese fighting fish bowls or small siamese divided tanks for cheap! You probably wouldn't spend no more than $5-$15 depending which method you chose. Your cichlids are definetly going to need their own tank because they're the aggressors of the bunch and will challenge everything in the tank sooner or later. Outer species companions with the Oscars for tank cleaning are Plecos. Also, the answer to your question would be a highly powerful Canister or Power filter since the tank sounds overcrowed. I recommend a Power Filter like AquaClear, Emperor, or Penguin. Price range for these are around $20-80.

I HONESTLY hope you're kidding here.

And if you aren't, I want to know how many of them are alive in a day.

Ok, so your oscars are going to get to about 15" (well probably not, because they'll be dead in a few days), so they're going to need about a 90-120 gallon tank to themselves. Think of about 55 gallons PER oscar. They're huge waste producers.

4 cichlids of what flavor? Yeah... I'm just going to say at least 40 gallons of water for them... separately from the oscars and other fish.

The siamese fighting fish need a gallon a piece... SEPARATELY from each other. They're called fighting fish for a reason.

The 10 goldfish I'm assuming are comets. If they aren't dead or eaten in the next week, they'll need a pond. Yes, a pond. Comets can get over 18" long with proper care and live about 20 years. They're pond fish for a reason.

I'm going to take a guess and say that you're going to have maybe a few goldfish left after your tank has a huge ammonia spike and kills everything else off. Yeah... crayfish will probably eat everyone else. The snail will probably survive.

And the moral of this story? Do some homework first and don't buy your fish from the people at Walmart.

This is the worst case of BAD stocking I have ever seen!
First of all, there is no such thing a freshwater crab. All crabs are brackish or salt water.

Crayfish are too big for your tank. They will eat any fish they can catch.

Siamese fighting fish are called that for a reason; males WILL fight each other. You can only have ONE.

Oscars are BIG fish. They can grow to 8-12" and need 60 gallons of water EACH, at least.

What type of cichlids? Cichlids are very aggressive fish and they will likely kill all your other fish.

Goldfish are huge waste producing fish. They poop like crazy and need 20 gallons of space EACH.

In a 10 gallon, you could have ONE siamese fighting fish, and some tetras. None of the rest.

Frankly, I do believe this is a joke. No petstore, no even the stupidest one, would sell these fish together to an obvious moron.

Convict cichlids need 10 gallons of water for each fish. And no, there aren't aquatic freshwater crabs. Look it up. You can put a saltwater crab and call it a freshwater crab... doesn't make it a freshwater crab. It will die in freshwater. The only fresh water crabs need access to dry land.

AHH... that's the worst tank setup I've ever heard of! Oscars and cichlids will EAT your bettas! Bettas will kill each other (unless they are all females) and goldfish can only live with COLDwater fish... the others are warm water. Your goldfish would need A HUGE tank of their own (they grow to 1' in length) and the oscars and cichlids need a 200 gallon tank for the least and the bettas need individual tanks (1 gallon). Is this some kind of joke? IT'S A HORRIBLE TANK SETUP!!!! DON'T KEEP THESE IN A TANK TOGETHER!!!

Well, with ciclids, an undergravel filter will be exposed rapidly. The siamese fighting fish should kill each other off so, then you will have to scoop out their carcases. I hope this is a BIG tank, becuase if it isn't, you will come home to dead fish every day till it balances out...get a BIG flow filter...& don't have any favorites for a while...
Oh, I forgot, the ciclids have the salitiest fresh water of any of the fish...so, soon enough, your tank will balance out, & you will have an empty tank & you can maybe study a little & find out what goes with what & in what kind of water...

I had a pleko in with my 2 oscars , a jack dempsey, and a convict . he did a real good job cleaning up. about your question, what size tank is it?. most tank filters say what they'll filter. I used 2 30-60 gallon filters for my 55 gallon tank. a bit overkill but i hate dirty tanks. be sure to rinse filter frequently. also, keep up on your water change cycles. hope that helped.

p.s. hope you have at least a 55 gallon tank for all of those fish. you don't want your tank to be too crowded. Also, the goldfish wont last long if they are small. i used to buy them to feed my 2 oscars.

you shouldnt put fighting fish in the same tank - they will kill each other. That is why in the fish store they are all seperated. And gold fish and fighting fish don't need a heated tank while the others do. Did you talk to a worker before buying all these fish, maybe you should have discussed what would have been more compatible fish.
THe filter will depend on the size of the tank

There are three main types of filtration for freshwater aquaria: biological, mechanical, and chemical.

Biological Aquarium Filtration:
This is the most important type of filtration for stability and reduction of toxic wastes.

Mechanical Water Filtration:
This filtration is good for keeping the water clear and free of debris!

Chemical Aquarium Filtration:
Chemical filters are used to remove things that are dissolved in the water, and therefore cannot be removed by mechanical filters. They are most useful in getting rid of the yellow color that often develops in aquarium water over time!

Make sure to keep siamese fighting fish seperated otherwise they will kill eachother. Also your Oscars will eat goldfish as well as the fighting fish. Best of Luck in your endevour and I hope it works out for you.

Thats just sick! Did they not tell you those fish were aggressive with the exception to the goldfish and snail? Their little fins will be the 1st to go... I had beautiful purple and yellow cyclids and an oscar that jump the tank and committed suicide no kidding... make sure your tank has a lid.

All those types of fish wont live together..... Oscars which are from the cichlid family are one of the most aggressive and territorial fish there are. Cichlids go with only cichlids.
