Email or letter does it matter. The problem now is people dont write they use txt or almost bullit points when communicating with other peple. If you write a proper email its like a letter and if it comes out offending people you either havnt put thought into it or yes you are rude!!

With very few people do I have real problems with emails, but I don't think it was the emails - I think it was that the person read things into what I said that HE thought I was saying. It made him furious, and he was getting mad over NOTHING.
Emails are a VERY limited form of communication. You can't tell if a person is being sarcastic, its hard to show inflections, etc. Best to keep emails very, very SIMPLE because they can be easily miscontrued. Otherwise, just be very careful what you say and HOW you say it.

You have to be really careful when writing emails, because you can't use different tones of voice and similar tools that a person uses in normal conversation.
For instance, you can't use sarcasm. If you were talking to your friend on the phone and you're talking about someone calling her fat the other day, and you say 'oh yeah, you're fat' but you mean it to say, 'you're not fat at all', you have to be careful how to word it in emails. You obviously can't say, 'Oh yeah, you're fat!' because that could also mean 'oh you're definitely fat!'
It doesn't necessarily make you rude, but you have to be careful, you can't type like you talk, you know?

It all depends on the writing style of the sender and the mind of the reciever.
An E-Mail is just a letter or a fax in some ways, in the fact that it had no tone to it, its just writing.

i use emails alot - however it is important to re-read them before you hit the send button - some people hide behind emails also, which i don't like - never break up via email - i sometimes find it easier to say my true feelings in writing - most of the guys i have dated have loved my emails & i do end most of them with a smile.

The medium of communication has nothing to do with the person's attitude. Be it in paper, email, verbal, or text, if the person is rude, whatever medium used doesn't matter, he/she will be rude.

Xenie,
I think e-mails are impersonal. I think we have all misunderstood something at one time or another. In society there is no face to face so you can't read expressions or look into their eyes.At least on a telephone you can hear the sighs, or anger in their voices.

it's not what you read it's how you read it.....emails are much better...better than writing a letter then posting it and waiting for a few days to get a reply...that's the beauty about the internet....
