Its way more simple than many realize. There will never be any peace there until their prophesies are fulfilled. They all feel like they have the right the Dome on the Rock and will not be happy until the rightful owner in their minds has it. The 2000 year religious standoff is the reason the US used to never consider getting involved. They see us as protectors of Israel. Now we are paying the price for being involved with their dispute. Why has Bush taken this war in the direction he has. He should've took out Osama and his followers and been done with that. Instead he took it to a whole new level like he thinks he will go down as the man who brought peace to the middle-east and he is wrong. Only an act of God will accomplish that.

I would think that would be key, while others in the region may never give up the Holy war, I think peace in between Isreal and the Palestinians would go a long way in settling the problems. Bill Clinton and his staff had them at least talking, that was a start. But with the theft of the election in 2000 and the appointment of the decider all good things that Clinton did do were taken off of the table. As a result we are in a quagmire that I see little chance for a resolution, until after the next presidentual election. We are really in danger of another world war and it could break out at any time. I hope that George Bush at least listens to this report as there is some answers in it for the betterment of the world in general.

I strongly disagree..
Israel is only an excuse Islam uses in the west to further their cause of conquest. We know that jihad will not cease until any territory formerly conquered by Islam is once again under Islamic control, including Andalusia, Sicily, and Israel.

If the wealthy Arab countries wanted to solve many of the hardships of the Gaza Strip, as well as other hardships of their Palestinian "brothers," they could easily do so. The latest increase in oil prices added more than $50 billion to their bank accounts, according to the estimates of economists. There would be a tremendous change for the better in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The problem is that the Arab countries are not even keeping their minimal promises to assist the Palestinian Authority. They want other countries - Japan, the United States and countries in Europe - to increase their contributions.

The disregard of Palestinian distress on the part of the Arab countries deepens the vacuum that the Iranians and the Al-Qaida extremists are trying to penetrate. In the final analysis, the Arab countries will also have to pay the bill. Apparently, those who claim there are Arab rulers who are interested in having the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continue, in order to divert the attention of the masses in their countries from their severe distress, are correct.

This could be true. I agree 85% on this . But this conflict is not the only thing, there are still other conflicts going on around that region especially about religions. Regard of Plastinian/Israeli conflict , it bring not only hatred from Palestinian/Arabians/Muslims toward Israeli but also to Westerners ( particularly American). I think it would be better if American could simply act as a fair police in this issue. I'm not against Jews, but American force shouldn't show too much support for Israeli side. It just make the matter worse, and people from that regions hate American more.

Could be.

Fact is that this war has been waged for around 3500 years. How do you stop a war that has raged so long? When the people are bred to battle, you cannot teach them much else.

We would have to eliminate several generations of middle east civilians in order to scrub out the conflict and I really don't seeing anyone sane jumping to execute that many people.

I believe we should have forced Saddam out of power rather than invade, but that isn't what happened. All we can do now is the best we can to fix the problem. Withdrawing and leaving them to fend is not one of them. If this pannel has it's way, then we will cut bait and leave. That is what will really cause havok. Almost immediately an ethnic cleansing will begin. Radical forces or terrorists will take the country and we will be forced into another conflict. We may not be as fortunate with minimal losses the next time though.

If we do pull out, take then ALL out. Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Egypt. All of them. Then assist with humanitarian aid as it is available to send them. I don't want to get involved with this aincient war anymore.

This goes back to when the Jews returned to Israel, Syria and Lebanon were one country, and was involved in unifing the Arab states. Didn't Happen and the USA got much of the blame for failure. Starting right from there the USA has made mistakes and backed the Israelis aggressiveness. Agree it is past time to talk to those that don't like us as well as those that like us. I have written previously on Yahoo ans. old adage: " Keep your friends close and your enemies closer." It takes courage and also high degree of self esteem/ego strength to talk with those that are critical of you. That is the mark of a strong leader, and I have written on Yahoo ans. The man of strong convictions and steadfast in resolve can be called an ignormas. It is a trait of an insecure person. I find it encourageing that the study group recognizes the need to talk to those that don't like us. Palestinians are Arab/Muslim and should have as much recognition as any other Arab group.

That seems to be the oldest conflict . They have never had peace there and all the Muslin conflict's have been blamed on that region ..
Yes I do believe that is true .
Even Bin Laden spoke of the hatred for Israel and the unjust way the Palestinians are treated and that was one of the reasons he fought the West .

Bush and Co. will quickly communicate with Iran and Syria. The early denials will fall with the aid of the wayside and the Bush camp will 'prepare' Bush for the showdown. Syria and Iran could have their very own schedule and Bush and Co. could have theirs. opposite to everyday perception, Iraq has already talked with Iran and has alerady talked with Syria and an excellent style of others interior the midsection East. Plans are already interior the making to convey those interior the area mutually. it fairly is going on because of the fact those interior the midsection East are very attentive to what the united statesis able to and that they are getting arranged. As has been suggested in the previous, those interior the midsection East will on no account enable the U.S. to regulate their oil. it fairly is a given. they are no longer as dumb at they provide the effect of being like. umm and perchance we could continually enable it relatively is prevalent that the Umted States aided Saddam with WMD's long in the previous the invasion. honest adequate? umm lower back. seems as though many persons are afflicted with the aid of the incontrovertible fact that the midsection Easteners are so very wealthy. Bothers you won't it.

Baker works for the Saudis. The saudis back the palestinians. The study group says talk to Iran, syria, saudi arabia and NOT Isreal. The militant islamic factions have killed all over the world and are still doing that. if they think it is JUST do to Isreal. that is naive at best. They want shariah law, the Caliph and the teachings of Mohamed to rule the world. There is no other way in their eyes.

True? I tend to believe so. Unfortunately, given the rabid hatred by the radical Islamic faction in Iran, the only settlement will be a glow in the dark, radioactive mudhole where Israel used to stand. I hope it will not turn this corner, but it may come to a place in events where we have to make a very public stand in regard to this conflict. It would be nice to wish it away but the more likely scenario is that it will come boiling to a very violent and tragic head.
