what are some good games? We got the cord so they can hook up the ds' and play together. My son is 9 and daugher is 5. we'd like to get them age specific games that will be fun. :) Any recommendations, something you know is a good game. I hate to get things that are crummy grafics, or gets old quick. Son likes sports, role playing games, and daughter is 5.. so really what a 5 yr old likes. We got her a Dora game. :) THanks so much!!!

well, for one thing, there is no cord that connects two DS systems together - they connect wirelessly, without any additional parts. if it is two gameboy [sp]s then, yes, you need a cord. also, the DS is not a gameboy - though it does have the 3.5 V engine to play gameboy advance games (a great source of games for the kids)
ok, they are GBAs. are they GBA SPs? the SP is a MUCH better buy, and cheaper in the long run than a regular GBA. a GBA is shaped kinda like an oval/square plate, with little handle bars, and the SP is square

gameboy advance games
mario: super star saga is another mario role playing game
pokemon are actually very intricate role playing games _ but it's an extremist game. either a kid likes it, or will be embarassed that he plays it. it's supposedly kiddy, but really it is a great game
harvest moon is another game, a farming game, sometimes considered an rpg (role playing game) but it is too intricate for a five year old, and might give the nine year old too much frustration. great game though.
there are many, many games for gameboy advance

a great option is a gift card - and let your son "convince" your daughter what she should get. generally kids have a good idea on what games are decent. another good bet is to ask kids if this or that game is any good. obviously you ask in front of their parents, you'd surely feel weird seeing a stranger talk to your kids and not being able to hear it
--------
i think a great idea is for you to go to http://www.gamestop.com and look through the gameboy advance games. go into additional details with like 2-5 titles, and perhaps some info could be given to you on them. a word of caution, even if a game is based off a kid's disney movie, that doesn't make it easy enough for a five year old.
the wario game Twisted is on gba. while it might seem a good idea, a game with a gyro in it, and you twist and turn the gameboy to play, you have to read the 3-8 word instructions in about 2 seconds, and then you have like tons of mini games that last from 3-6 seconds long, and it might be too frustrating to figure out what you are supposed to do, from a 5, OR a 9 year old's point of view

Yes. That was actually probably one of the best deals i've ever heard of. As long as the DS is in good condition, and ofcourse, works. And Yes, you are able to play gameboy games on your nintendo. On your nintendo, at the front, you will see a small slot, that when bought, comes with something that goes in wen u are not using a game. Also, when you insert the gameboy games, they do not go in all the way. They go in about halfway. Though is is fine, nothing is wrong, and you arent doing anything rong. this is the way it works.

I use to have my kids look through the toy store mailers with me (back before the internet was popular) and get some idea of what they liked. I guess the modern version of doing this would be to have them ‘browse’ the internet with you. You can go to http://www.buddyandoscars.com/games_toys_2.htm and click on the GAMES & CONSOLES link for the Game Boy Advance and see what their reactions are as you browse through the different games. Sorry I can’t make any specific suggestions, but I’m not really a big video game player myself.

For your son you could let him pick, but if it is for Christmas, than pick out a sport or a Spyro game. For your daughter, that will be easy, just pick a girly game for her, like barbie.
