There is no right or wrong age to have a baby. I think the most important things are to be in a healthy relationship with your significant other, and to be mentally and physically prepared. It also helps to be in a good financial state in order to provide for your child.

I had my son at 20 and have never regretted it (I am now 25 and a cancer patient, I likely won't get another chance at carrying a pregnancy...these things can happen for a reason).
People today have this idea that you need to be all "situated" to have kids. If you and your boyfriend care about each other and you are ready then don't let a doctor or midwife tell you any differently. Only you know if you're ready for it. In *my* experience it's the best thing I've ever done. I couldn't imagine my life without him.

If you don't like the midwife, now would be a good time to explore other midwives. No one should treat anyone like they are a dumb@ss. Especially a new mother to be. Its a very scary, exciting, unbelievable and yes questionable time of your life!
It doesn't matter if your 20, 30 or 40 having your first is exceptionally scary, exciting, unbelievable and questionable.
I'd go ahead and meet w/ some other midwifes in your area. Just have a short interview with them, just to be sure your personalities click and she's someone you feel comfortable with.

You are not too young to have a child. The way I see it, as long as you and your boyfriend are able to support yourselves and the baby, more power to you. It is so expensive now adays to raise a baby. I have a 1 year old (was pregnant at age 22) and I'm so thankful I had him when I did. Just keep doing what you're doing and I'm sure you'll do fine. GOOD LUCK with your pregnancy and your new baby. Enjoy!

I am 21 dear. I don't think 20 is too young either. If you are responsible and you can provide for the baby don't worry. Now your midwife shouldn't be treating you like that. They should respect all pregnant woman, old or young. If you feel uncomfortable or like she is being rude, I'd ask for another midwife. But 20 isn't too young and good luck with your pregnancy.

There's no right or wrong age to have a baby. In my opinion the older the better; but mainly just because the more established you are the easier it is (good job, nice home, etc). I had my first at 19 and it has been a struggle but we made it through just fine! If your midwife doesn't have a good bedside manner, get a new one! You want someone who makes you feel comforatble....you want to enjoy this time!

Well, what are you going to do if someone thinks its too young?
Its too late to worry about whether or not you are too young, you are having a baby.
If your midwife treats you like you are stupid, you should definitely find another doctor who is kinder and has a better bedside manner. This is an important relationship, and you are the boss here! Once you have found a doctor or midwife you like better, be sure to inform her that you are leaving because of the way she treated you. Maybe she will think twice next time.

My mom had me at 19, she was married. I was 22 when i got pregnant. and married.
Its probably because you're not married.
Either way, your midwife might just treat everyone like theyre stupid. You really should say something to her about it, or look for a different office. That woman will most likely be coaching you through the biggest most painful and scary event of your life, if you dont like her it will make it impossibly miserable.

hope not because im 20 as well. Really as long as you can provide for the baby i think your fine! You shouldnt be being treated like that and if she keeps it up i would find another or call her on it.......you have a long ways to go and enough to worry about other than being treated like that by your mid wife
good luck!

i think that whatever age you are, and having a baby is great AS LONG AS you and your partner are mature enough to handle the responsibilities that go along w/the baby. so if you're mature enough right now, then being 20 is a great age for you to have a baby. also, if you don't like your mid-wife, then you should just search for a new one.
