How come there are so many gay men but not many women?

Is it because gay women are more private? But then gay men are more private because there is more pressure on them in society.

I did an essay and in a book it said there are equal numbers. It doesn't seem that way. Although there are alot of women who claim to be bisexual to please men, that is embarrassing.

Oh yeah- I wasn't saying all gay men are private- I have worked with 2 and they are camp as hell and really loud.

The 2 lesbian women I have worked with were reall really moody and angry looking. Not very friendly.

I don't know why but like alot of people I readily accept women as gay but not a man. Probably because that is how society works and my religion as well.

I think alot of women do claim to be bisexual to please men especially singers and actresses in the media- apart from Angelina Jolie- she is a genuine one- no doubt about that.

I've never heard anyone say she was bisexual to please men.

But I agree -- there seems to be a distinct lack of gay or bi women...at least where I am. Then again, I have never had the ability to tell if a woman is interested or not. I think the frustrating thing is so few of them flirt. I can easily tell when men are interested, but can NEVER tell when a woman is (except when I watch heterosexual women around men -- it is CRYSTAL clear when they are interested). Why can't more gay/bi women be as obviously flirty with women as heterosexual women are with men???

I think it's a matter of perspective. Where I live there are more lesbians than bisexual women, and yes, I would say their numbers are probably equal to that of gay men.

There are an better share of drag queens between at as quickly as men than there are between gay men. the only distinction is that many at as quickly as men do no longer tell people approximately it.

I'm the director of membership with the GLBT group at our company. The proportion of lesbians to gay guys is about the same as the proportions of women to men in our company. Perhaps you just aren't attuned to noticing them.

The gay men I know are anything but private - they flaunt their gayness. Come to California there are lots of lesbians here.

In our society we expect men to be "manly". It is easier to identify who is gay and who is not when it is male you are looking at. For females, it is much more difficult. They aren't expected to be "girly girls".

because society thinks that two women together is "hot" and two men together is "disgusting" so they'll probably focus more on the two men.

that could be it...not many women choose to come out as lesbians...they claim to be bisexual instead...I know more gay guys that lesbians...I think Ive met like 2 my whole life time...

MOST gay men are odvious u can tell but women it hard to tell who is and who isn't.
