Satch and Vai! Great music an all. Vais whispering a prayer is a top notch track.

Dragonforce is just a bit repetitive (i loved them at first then got bored of them) for my liking and Maiden are Maiden aka brilliant. Dave Murray's guitar tone is music to my ears.

Doesnt have to be fast of course. i love some of the guitar breaks in Amon Amarths music. you just have to stand with your fist in the air shouting MMMEEETTAAALLLLLLL.

Clapton is old slow hand for a reason but can do some great solos. Jimi changed the world and will always be one of the best but i think others have done better as time has moved on. What about Van Halen? He basically invented histronics on the old axe. Petrucci is a great player as is Michael Angelo, Malmsteen etcetc but i couldnt pick a solo out as 'the best' from them. Gary Moore is a great player with the solo from the extended version of wild frontier a favourite of mine as is the playing from a guy called David Brockett from Glasgow who did a great cd called DB7 i think. Zakk Wylde was great an all.

I could go on all day so ill just go for a beer instead and put some viking metal on to keep me amused.

Death in Fire!

Some awesome mentions so far!

I would like to add: "Limelight" by Rush.

It is the closest thing to a perfect solo that I've ever heard. It fits the song perfectly!

pretty much all my favourites have been mentioned, Frank Zappa, the two Jimmys , Brian May etc.. and i have to put a mention for Bill Nelson(bebop deluxe) he`s up there with the best of them. But if i have to choose one then its got to be Jimmy page for his jaw dropping performances on the (album/film) Song remains the same.
