if you say " I am sorry" when they are telling you something that it means you are accepting blame? I often say I am sorry to people and have my entiore life, even when I have not done something wrong. I was raised with values, ethics and morals. I was taught compassion, empathy and understandingness. When someone tells me about a bad event, or some unpleasant thing I say I am sorry indicating a sense of sorryfullness for the situation for their pain for the road not being smooth for them at that point. Just as people ask questions for differnt reasons, it is not always to seek knowledge. Saying one is sorry also, is not about accepting blame. What has happened over the years to change good manners into a black and white right or wrong world. I do not plan on loosing by empathetic nature but I sure wish people would understand this more deeply.

If you look at the news everyday you will see that as a society we are being programed to always seek out who is to blame for a problem rather than seeking a solution to that problem. Because of this we cannot let go of the knowledge within ourselves of what is right and wrong. We must stand up whenever we can and show that we do have the abiltiy to truely be empathetic to a persons situation without trying to find out who is to blame. If we don't forget how to show our manners then maybe we will do it enough that people will notice and begin to have manners themselves. We just can't let them cause us to forget what we know is right.

Good question. When we say "i am sorry" as someone is telling us a problem or story of their life it is that we are experiencing the pain they are going thru. We are truly compassionate to the problem at hand. Whereas if we didn't care for humanity we would probably say nothing and brush them off. Is natural to say that, is the love in our heart for people. It is not a signal we accept the blame for their problem. have a great day!
