The Iraqi government.

While I suppose some will argue that it is a US backed trial that is just conspiracy talk again...too much X-Files when they were kids. It isn't as if Iraq is broke (money wise) they are just broken.

Why do you think the Americans invaded Iraq, Saddam no, the oil anywhere in the world is a magnet for the U.S and allies and we will see many more wars being fought for oil. maybe Iran is next on the list so why are you worrying who's paying for Saddam's trial

I think they are getting the money/support/materials from occupying forces in areas in which it falls short. It doesn't cost alot to run a trial really. They are probably getting the money from the same place they get the money to run their hospitals, schools, police forces, etc.

Saddam has many lawyers who are willing to work pro-bono for his defense because there are those who believe that he is unfairly being tried because he is actually the legitimate ruler of Iraq, despite what a Western media might have you think.

The same number of lawyers would love to prosecute the man. People who claim they lost loved ones would or probably have donated sums of money to the cause of seeing him hanged.

In the end, who knows? But regardless of who pays for it, it's not a trial. It's a dragged out assassination of a legitimate president (note: I didn't say kind/just/fair/innocent) who pissed off the U.S.A. when the political parties in power needed a cause other than being against gay marriage to bolster support.
