The equator is a straight, imaginary line which goes round the middle of any kind of astronomical object, between the North and South poles. The Earth's equator passes through three continents: Southern America,-at the top of it, nearing Mexico- Africa-just below the middle of it-and Indonesia, which are a collection of islands just off the Indian and Australian coasts.
