I'm not sure, I just think the worse time to look for a job is in June when School is finished. Most People want a Job then. Good Luck!

Generally speaking, it IS a bad month for two reasons:

1) Most of the holiday / seasonal help have already been hired, and

2) Most people don't leave their job in December because they don't want to loose their xmas / holiday bonus.

Now this doesn't mean that you won't find a job in December because it all depends on an individual company's staffing needs, but as a general rule, there are fewer jobs open in December.

Yes & no... almost nothing gets done between Thanksgiving and New Year's. Lots of people take vacation days and sick days and people are (IMO) generally unfocused at work. It can take a lot longer to get your application processed and to set up interviews or get in touch with people. The entire process moves a lot slower IMO at this time of year. Plus if you actually get the job & you have to move, the weather is awful!

On the up side, if people are actively hiring at this time, the pool of applicants can be smaller. Our office recently did a national search and while we did finally get about 7 applicants, for the first 3 weeks of the search we had only 2 applications on file. You have a better chance of getting a job going up against a half dozen people than you do competing against 2 dozen (like you may a few months from now).

If you need a job, definitely get on the market. If you don't really need it, keep your eyes open in case something pops up. If you want to make a change, you shouldn't let the timing discourage you...something may open up that's perfect for you and if you aren't open to it, it will pass you by!

Yes. because positions usually don't open in Decmber. Nobody leaves their job in December awaiting end of the year bonus, receiving X-mas presents etc. Besides people are so busy with presents and parties that I'm not sure they even have time or a desire to look at resumes. End of the year is time to close all loose ends.
After people get their bonuses they start moving on. So the best time to look for a job is January-February.
There are also many positions opening in summer. Many people move only in summer because of schools.
Good luck.

If you're looking for a job in retail, December is a GREAT time to look for a job, or late November, just before the Christmas season. January is a bad time to look.

January has high staff turnover rate, for the simple reason that most people who want to leave their jobs wait till they receive their year-end bonus. Most people won't leave in December. This is a very common mindset among most of the working people I know. Hence, I feel there will be more job vacancies in January. However, there will also be more people scouting for alternative jobs. It's a game of musical chairs, but at least there will be empty seats for grabs.

*This is the case for permanant, full-time executive jobs. I don't know much about retail or temporary jobs.

No way, its sort of the best time to look for a job, if you go to the right place. The holiday season is coming which means there's a holiday rush so get out there and look!

It is a slower time to look for a job, because of holidays and a lot of poeple have vacations schedule, so the general role it is a bad month to look for a job, but you can still find them.

It is a great month to look for a job in retail. Other than retail it depends on where you live. Winter months can traditionally mean layoffs in many sectors and climates.
Otherwise, in my experience and opinion every month is about the same depending on how particular you are being in your job search.

Depends on the company. Many companies this time of year are trying to cut back spending to make up for the rest of the year. They need to show a profit for the year so most are actually cutting jobs.
