do I have shocks or struts? Approximately how much should I expect to pay someone to fix it? It makes noises over pot holes and bumps so I am pretty sure that is what it is.

could just be the mounts also

You have struts. You should pay about $175 each for new struts and $150 or so labor to install them. Look for KYB shocks I have used them on several cars over the years and they are great. However just because the car makes noise over a bump does not mean the struts are worn. It could be a motor mount, a ball joint or several other things.

$600.00 is a fair price for all 4 strut replacement. Make sure the upper strut mounts get checked these can cause a lot of squeaking noise, and generally doesn't add any additional labor cost to the job. Make sure you get struts with a lifetime warranty if you plan on keeping the vehicle. most strut manufactures offer this.

wel being 11 years old you should replace them anyways but check the strut bushings. this is on top of the struts and they will make noise as well as other parts listed above. cost depends on parts and labor in your area and also depends on what NEEDS to be replaced

youhave struts.if they are the problem expect to pay around 650 with alignment.but i would have it checked out because it could be many things.torsion arm bushing or ball joints,have it checked first so u dont waste money

You are looking at about $200.00 to $500.00. My struts are $165.00 a peace and that's me putting them on.
