in order to heat their homes and business' they used either wood stoves and mainly COAL stoves, which put tons of soot into the air their had to breathe, not to mention they used outside clothes lines to dry their clothes and all this contamination came down on their clothes that they put on their bodies and the chemicals leached into their bodies this way too, plus thru their lungs from breathing..
their food was not refrigerated like our is, so a lot of it would be on the verge of going bad, and they would have to eat it anyways.
not to mention the poor food handling practices back then, someone would have to RELIEVE themselves, and they would not wash their hands, and the bacteria and fecal matter would end up in and on the food also contaminating it, causing people to get sick and or die..
they also used HORSES to move people and products around, and you know what happens after a horse eats, and then walks around, yes, he drops their mess right on the ground, the streets we full of the mess from the horses, and they did have a few street cleaners, but all they did was shovel it into buckets, they did not sanitize the street, so when anyone walked on the street or children played, they would carry small parts of fecal matter with them, into schools, into shops, into food areas, and into their homes..
not to mention the poor sanitation they had to remove the HUMANS waste products, this system would back up and flow into the streets also causing sickens.
so there are a few for you
good luck
smile
be thankful for what we have now!
