I go up to my roof. From there I can see pretty much the whole bay and get the sunset through the Golden Gate Bridge.
As far as away from home, I would have to go with either the Marin Headlands or Mount Tam. Twin Peaks is pretty nice, too.

I prefer the Redwoods of Sonoma County and the Sonoma Coast. It's great if you like the "small town" atmosphere. I would recommened traveling North on 101. From there take the River Road exit at the end of Santa Rosa. Turn left on to River Road and just follow that out to the coast and Hwy 1. You'll drive through some great little towns like Guerneville, Duncans Mills and Bodega.

Just looking out on the bay from this hill right off of the Bridge where u can see everything as well... Can't remember the name of it, could be the same one you are talking about.. very peaceful and a place you can just look at and think...

I like Pier 39 and all the shopping spots like Westfield Mall, Nordstrom, Golden Gate.......i just love SF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
