My b/f proposed at Thanksgiving and I accepted. The problem is my best friend. She and I have been friends for 12 years. She helped me through child birth, my divorce adn just life in general. She has also helped me through some pretty rough times with my current b/f. Early on in our relationship he had a problem with speaking the truth and I shared all of this with her. She thinks he is worthless and that I deserve better. Honestly, he is a good person, he is good to my children and my family adores him. Those are the most important things to me so I can live with the rest, but she is freaking out. She can not stand him or the fact tha I would even consider his proposal. I realize she does not have to marry him and that she is not me, but I would trust her with my life in a minute and I value her opinion. Does it appear that I am settling???

If you cant trust him now... what makes you think that you can trust him when you are married? Just remember, your relationship now will be amplified times 10 once you are married... Can you live like that? I am scared that you are settling because he is good to your kids and your family likes him. Just because he has a good heart doesnt mean that you will have a good, trustworthy and happy marriage. please consider all angles and this includes the bad ones.

She grew accustomed to you needing her and now that someone is taking her place she is feeling left out. Assure her that you will still need her for certain things and you aren't going to forget her.
