I am totally convinced they are born the way they are. No one would choose a life style that appears to be so hated by others. Why would anyone choose to put themselves through the hardships of being gay?

The bottom line is, they are HUMAN BEINGS AND DESERVE THE SAME RIGHTS AND TO BE TREATED JUST LIKE ANYONE ELSE.

Homosexuality is not an abomination. I am a firm believer that Gay's and Lesbians were born that way. Why would someone chose to be so different? I am not gay, but some of my best friends are. They would give anything to be like other people and be normal. They did not chose to be this way I can assure you. What they do with each other in a sexual manner can be concieved differently. I personally don't have a problem with it. It is their choice and if that is what makes them both happy and they do not drag other people into it, then I see no problem with it. Other people cannot even fathom any justification in two men together and those are the people most commonly known as homophobic in our society.
Gay people might be frowned upon, but so are people who are racist and judge people on the conditions that they were born with.
And tell me this, If God is errorless, how come there are Gays?
I think that God placed homosexuals on earth to teach us acceptance and equality. Noone is getting the point though.

Do you honestly think that a homosexual with a choice would CHOSE to be so different? Do you think that my 13 year old nephew would have cried every night and wrote a 12 page suicide letter if he coulod have just CHANGED his sexuality?

Let me ask you this, can you CHANGE your sexuality? Right now. Try it. Can you CHOSE to be gay right now? I didn't think so. And why not? Because you were born that way.

Do you think that God put homosexuals on this earth so that you all could have someone to abuse?

NO!

thats my opinion :)

That certainly is a controversial question. There seems to be evidence on both sides ( congenital vs. choice). I think it's possible that someone can be born with a gay orientation, and might well choose otherwise later on in life. I believe too, though, that others don't find a different choice as an option. People are people are far as I'm concerned, and very few exceptions I haven't found gays to be other than ordinary work-a-day people just like straights.

One thing I do know: animals can and do engage in homosexual acts, as I've seen my male Dalmatians do ( though that didn't stop them from heterosexual acts which brought puppies into the world). Obviously with them its a matter of instinct and not of deliberate choice.

Interesting question... and I'm afraid it still has an inconclusive answer. Science is still trying to determine if homosexuality is something determined in fetal development... and even if they do make a "eureka" discovery, the church will no doubt interject some way. It will actually take time to get to the bottom of it. But for now, it looks like science leans towards being gay as a birth trait and not really something someone "chooses"...
and as for marraige... well, straight people can't keep it together so maybe it should just be a straight thing... let them continue to screw up what they have (and abuse) because they obviously feel they are doing something to keep that sanctity alive... HA!

I don't know why people get so fired up about this issue. Gay by choice or by birth, what is the difference? People are who they are, and no amount of lecturing or demeaning or encouraging is going to change a person's fundamental nature. And as for marriage, why can't a gay couple formalize their relationship? There is no real logical reason.

And for those who think being gay is a choice, how much counselling or prodding do you think it would take you to become gay? None, if you aren't gay! Just like it required no prodding for you to become interested in the opposite sex if you are heterosexual.

Let's approach this logically. I am not bashing here, I just want you to look at some other possibilities. Gays are attracted to people of the same sex and desire to have relationships with them. Now for the sake of argument, what about a person who is attracted to small children and wants to have sex with them? Or how about someone who enjoys sex with animals. Were they born that way or is it a perversion of the way things should be? You cannot logically claim that gays are born the way they are and these other groups were not. Now if you claim that they all were born the way they are, why not allow the other relationships if you are going to allow gay relationships. You cannot use a moral scalpel to severe one perversion from the others in order to be politically correct.

I doubt that anyone chooses to be gay or straight. You are whatever you are. I don't give a crap if two consenting adults choose to get married; homo, hetero, or whatever. It's none of my business and I wish that people would just get over it. Truthfully, we would all be better off if EVERYONE STOPPED getting married altogether. Less misery, less drama, less work for the bloodsucking lawyers. People need to mind their own business and leave each other alone.

gay people are born homosexual . gay people can't decide if they want to be straight
or not . just like straight people don't say , " oh i'm done with him , i'm turning lesbian . "
naa , that sounds madd dumb , right ? heterosexuals are born straight &&; don't decide
later on down tha line 2 be gay . gays are born with mixed up hormones . that's all .

I don't think it should matter whether or not it's chosen or inborn. We are who we are. We don't harm anyone, we don't infringe upon the rights of anyone, whether it's inborn or chosen won't change anything.
It's as if
"if it's inborn then we should pity them and get them help"
but if it's chosen then
"they're evil and harmful and should be taken away and out of society"

Either way the straight community will find some excuse for denying us equality and equal access to human dignity.

We're human beings, plane and simple.
We have emotions, we are made of the same flesh and blood, we aren't infected or diseased, we don't need curing or "saving."

let me ask you this- if its a choice is there really such a thing as "gay"? wouldnt those people just be bi? if people who are gay can change their mind and decide to be strait then there really isnt such a thing as being "gay" there is only such a thing as "bi" right??? so i would say they are born that way. not a choice thats made. choices can be changed. once youve made up your mind you can still change your mind. can you change your mind and be "gay" no?? why not cause u didnt choose to be straite u were born striate and no matter what u do you will not be gay. u can tell yourself to be gay but it just wont happen
