I had acl reconstructive surgery a few months ago and I'm already lifting weights after the physical therapist approved of it, would glucosamine help my recovery?

There have been no studies that have examined this. Perhaps you may have some benefit if there is some mild arthritis (which can occur after ACL injury) and the glucosamine may help with the structure of the cartilage. However, there are no studies that describe any benefits to the anterior cruciate ligament itself.

Had my acl done 11 years ago. Don't think it would help much, but it probably won't hurt either. My therapist said that only time and exercise are going to aid in recovery. Best of luck on your rehab!

I use it (combined w/chondroitin) and have never heard any doctor or therapist say that it didn't help. I noticed improvement in my arthritis after just 2 days! What you have is more severe, so you may take longer to see results.

Also, your exercise regimen should be more careful. STill, DO build up the muscles, as they take pressure of the ligaments, which heal more slowly, due to less blood-supply and smaller size.

Got arthritis already? Glucosamine is for joint degeneration (arthritis).
