I had experienced what they called mental illness many years ago, it has turned out to be enlightenment.
The 'illness' enabled me to see how wonderful everything was, to feel a strong love for everyone, it persuaded me to give loads of my stuff in the street, and spend money like water.
Now that wonderful feeling has been absorbed by my normal personality, and my problem is that whenever I go into a shop, I see loads of beautiful things, and I cannot afford to buy all I want.
What should I do?

It sounds like you are having a manic episode... Apparently I get them sometimes too. It does seem like the colors of the world are brighter and there is heavenly beauty all around, doesn't it? That is the problem, it makes you feel so good... that you want to give away everything you own, buy every pretty thing you see.. and then later give all those away.. it makes you want to fly away and under the rainbow.. etc.. etc... except as nice as it feels while it lasts, the moment it comes crashing down and you land in a depression, you will find yourself in so much financial and other trouble that you may have a lot of trouble climbing back out. Keep your spirituality and by all means enjoy looking at the beauty in the world, but also please get yourself to a psychiatrist who can prescribe you some meds to get you stabilized before you spend every cent you have and end up in a bad depression.

Not very many people can buy everything they want! When I go into a store I could buy almost everything, but I don't, not only because I can't but also because I have learned self-control. You never mentioned what your mental illness was, but I will assume it is OCD. I would recommend talking with your local mental health as this could turn into a severe shopping addiciton or worse. If you don't feel comfortable talking to a professional, you could talk to me. I am just a student, but I do have personal experience with many differnet mental illnesses. Maybe I could lead you in a safer and more productive direction.

Well, you can hope to win the lottery so you can buy all the beautiful things you see in the shops,,, or you can try realise that material things just clutter up your house, collect dust and you can't take them with you when you die...

All the most beautiful things are not sold in shops, there free and real riches are not measured by how much money you have.

Thats not enlightenment at all. Thats a shopping addiction. Go get a job. Enlightenment has nothing to do with shopping at all. Dumba**.

Perhaps if you work and save up for something you really want, you will appreciate having it more.
But remember that material goods are not the most valuable

Go and visit Bazra to see the world in all its base and violent ugliness. You might acquire a sense of perspective.

money is a form of energy if you do not have a need for something this energy is going to go to waste a instant spark of your satisfaction , and no long term light!
