They put an odor in natural gas so you can smell it. Like all odors it is tiny particles. They can build up and break away from the inside of the gas lines forming clots or you might call them lumps.

no could be something in pipes before using it for gas line, i saw green lumps,powder in old pipes from mfg gas before Nat gas was available.

No, it is a gas not a solid. It only becomes a solid at extremely low temperatures (you won't have to worry about it at your house).
