My understanding is that folks who blog are just sounding off with their opinions, basically, yes? And, to edit and clean up that old saying a bit, everyone has one. So why do we hear political pundits & politicians talk about "The bloggers were on top of that one" or "We keep track of what the bloggers are saying on this" and such. I mean, bloggers aren't necessarily experts on anything, right? It's just people with time to sit and sound off online, right? I know this sounds a bit snide, but I really am curious why anyone cares what bloggers are saying.

Bloggers are important because the opinions they share on their blogs, as well as their suggestions, can work to improve different things all over the world. Also, bloggers serve as the true "voice" of the commonplace people, providing views on the world and current events that are uncensored and also unfiltered, as the news media is both censored and filtered.
