Well, Daphne was too busy putting on makeup and giving Fred a ration of sh*t, Velma was always reading or daydreaming, Shaggy was hiiiigggghhhh, and Scooby was a dog (and also high). Fred is the only one who wouldn't get them killed.

Thats a good question! Fred probobly was a control freak. But, can you blame him. If they hit a bump Velma's glasses could fall off then she couldn't see then they would get in a car wreck. Can you really trust Shaggy to drive a big machine like that(nuf said)? Daphinie is so vain she probobly would be looking in the mirror on the visor the whole time. Daaaaaaaa!LOL!

Gas was a lot more affordable back then. I bet Shaggy sold drugs on the side. I think Fred and Daphne were rich to begin with as well.

Shaggy was too stoned to drive. Velma was too busy scoping out lesbians, and if Daphne took the wheel, she'd be too busy to fend off Scooby's attempts to "mount" her. So Fred was the only one left.

I think he was, actually. And why didn't he ever pair off with Shaggy or Scooby? It was always, "Daphne and I will go investigate the lighthouse, Scooby, you, Shaggy and Velma go set a trap for the Pirate Ghost".
