I am a doctor and I invented a way to make a custom orthotic from a footprint. With this, patients who cannot get out easily to their doctor or cannot walk far due to foot, leg, back pain are able to walk and stand longer with far less pain.
Now I thought that this invention--based upon footprints, multivariate calculus, autopsy data, military experience data, etc--would be such that customers/clients would be beating down my door. Well, after two years in busines, not one knock.
I do not know how to get the word out, being a doctor and therefore a lousy businessman (by definition); plus my budget is limited because I spent so much of my own money for the R&D, so bigtime advertising is out.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Given that its been two years and still no customers plus the fact that you have better inventing skills than marketing skills, I suggest you approach other companies to help you market your product. You can license your idea to companies who can then develop and promote your product.

I have worked with Big Idea Group before http://www.bigideagroup.net/index.html and they can help match you with the best licensing company for your product. I suggest you contact them and see how they can help you.

i went to an internet convention and in there ..there were lots of free tips on how to sell through the internet and get the word out and the results
since i have put my business out..i have had 500 hits (no sales yet).. and this is one month
it is opening a web site ..but putting it in such a way that one of the search engines like google..will show your business to get the hits
so a snazzy name...
that leads people directly to your product
once you get the sales..it will be so easy..
because your dealing with people with painful walking they do not have to walk just use the computer..so have them scan or fax the footprint... for a free analysis...
you know........just get a jazzy name..
everyone knows walking is healthy but worse if it hurts
good luck

Since you are calling this an invention, have you patented it? If so, have you considered licensing your invention to an established manufacturer rather than trying to market it yourself?
